Leveraging the Past for Better Futures Water Systems Design

    • History

In this final episode, Matteo D’Agostino interviews Eddy Moors, Director of the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Observer at the Netherlands National Committee for the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program of UNESCO. Eddy stresses the need for considering the past and holistic ways to look beyond mitigation of - and adaptation to - changing water patterns towards context-sensitive and water-saving solutions. His message is to shift away from top-down approaches and work together in creating and implementing sustainable solutions that address multiple values.
This podcast features in the online course Water Systems Design: Learning from the Past for Resilient Water Futures. Read Eddy’s article in Blue Papers: Moors, E. (2023). Capacity Development and Cultural Heritage: Toward a New “Culture of Water”. Blue Papers, 2(1), 34–41.
