Overcome mental limitations by accepting responsibility for your choices, Ep #42 From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery Podcast

    • Self-Improvement

In this week's episode, we discuss how your mental limitations are holding you back from achieving your goals in life. With the new year and new decade fast approaching - it's time we look at what is happening in our minds that is holding us back from our best life.
We can't accept responsibility and blame someone else at the same time. That's not how we empower ourselves or take personal responsibility. Even when bad things happen we have the ability to choose how we respond - thus giving us the power over the circumstance/event.
By putting an emphasis on our physical development we learn to break through plateaus and mental barriers we have placed in front of ourselves. When we learn to break through these perceived limitations physically, it actually teaches us to break through them mentally. This works the other way too. If we break through mentally, we learn we can also achieve physically.
It's all mental reinforcement. If you set out to accomplish something, the action of starting is what produces the momentum and the motivation - not the other way around. Motivation will not come until the action is started or the act of not acting brings about consequences that have to be dealt with right then and there.
I imagine many of us got into sobriety because the consequences finally caught up to us and we had no choice but to get into the action of sobering up.
It's time to take back the power. Over our minds, our bodies, our emotions, our spiritual practice - everything. Say it with me..."I have the power!"
Thank you so much for listening and being a part of this wonderfully supportive community. No longer are we living in the shadows!
