My interview today is with Nikkisha P. McCrea, MD.  Dr. McCrea shares her journey to becoming a medical doctor.  As an African American woman her journey was not easy, but with support, hard work and proper mentorship she was able to make her dream a reality.  We also tackle the topic of what it takes to manage life as a doctor along with being a wife and mother.  You don't want to miss this episode!

Nikkisha P. McCrea, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine.   She graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, summa cum laude, and later obtained her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  She completed residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, then joined faculty as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine.  Responsibilities included teaching residents, interns, and medical students on inpatient general medicine and consult services.  Dr. McCrea has a particular interest in providing quality care for vulnerable populations.  She also served as an Assistant Clinical Informatics Officer for the health system and lead projects designed to improve transitions in care.  Dr. McCrea joined The Horsham Clinic, a 206 bed inpatient behavioral health hospital, to serve as Director of Medical Services in 2016.  Responsibilities in this role include coordination and delivery of medical care for patients with acute psychiatric illness.  She currently resides in Philadelphia with her husband and two children.
