All problems are man's problems (From racism to climate change)

All problems are man's problems (From racism to climate change)

In reflecting upon the recent shootings in the U.S., it provoked some deep thought and questions. What can we take from this in order to bring change? How can we all contribute to a solution? We have to realize some hard-hitting facts first- by doing some self-reflecting. All of our problems- social, political, environmental....are all on us as humans.

My heart goes out to loved ones of those lost and to those affected by the shootings in Detroit, MI, Atlanta, GA, Stockton, CA, Gresham, OR, Houson, TX, Dallas, TX, Philadelphia, PA, Cleveland, OH and Boulder, CO all within a 7 day span. My heart also extends to anyone affected by racism & discrimination. I will never understand, but I stand with you.

    Cultural Appropriation vs Cultural Appreciation

The attention of cultural appropriation has grown as of recent- but what does it mean and how do we decipher that from cultural appreciation?
Fascinating insight on the biology, genetics and history of the world and cultures, along with my own experiences and perception made this episode happen. Book reference: "Customs of the World: Using Cultural Intelligence to Adapt, Wherever You Are"- Prof. David Livermore

Comfort Zones: Stepping Out By Looking Within

Comfort Zones: Stepping Out By Looking Within

Piggybacking on the previous episode on Boxes & Labels, this is all about our personal comfort zones and why it is harmful to not allow ourselves to step out of these- in order to heal, grow and experience. Trauma, depression, career social and political views, perceptions, exposure to new things, and self-development are discussed, including my personal background of experiences and transformations due to stepping out of my box and a revelation in regard to Depression. Being vulnerable and open to change is what progression is all about. Seek discomfort. Speaking of- there's a great site for you to check out....called Seek Discomfort. I also recommend The Power of Vulnerability by Brené Brown PHD. LinkTree sources: https://linktr.ee/sageuppodcast

It's time we step back, dig deeper, self reflect and swallow some hard realities. Because we do share many desires including connection and belonging, and that we don't like the divisiveness. We all have work to do to bridge the gaps- to be decent human beings. From religion, job/career, social & political view to ethnicity, disability and other unchosen differences.
