Living On Beat: Human connection, world traveling dancing duo, and starting a company together! With Erick & Abby EP: 54

Living On Beat: Human connection, world traveling dancing duo, and starting a company together! With Erick & Abby EP: 54

Welcome back to another heartwarming episode of our podcast! Today, I had the pleasure of sitting down with two incredible individuals who are not only dear friends of mine but also a powerhouse couple in the world of dance and creative arts education – Abby and Erick.

Abby and Erick are a dynamic husband and wife duo, parents to a delightful little girl named Stella, and renowned dancers who have traveled the world teaching and performing. They've built a company together called AE Creative, which has become a beacon of inspiration for many.

They shared their experiences of growing up, their love for dance, and how they've always been the ones to light up the stage, even during their school days.

We dive into the challenges they faced when the pandemic hit, especially with a three-month-old baby. They recounted how they pivoted their careers as a way to stay connected with the world and keep dance alive in their lives. This initiative sparked the idea to build on their passion for dance and use it to uplift others, which led to the creation of their company.

Abby and Erick also opened up about their personal lives, discussing the importance of family and how they've navigated their roles as parents and partners. The couple spoke about the transformative power of travel and how immersing themselves in different cultures has broadened their perspectives and deepened their empathy. They believe that everyone has their own unique view of life, and by embracing and learning from each other, we can all grow and connect on a deeper level.

As educators, Abby and Erick stressed the importance of dance as a form of nonverbal communication and self-expression. They believe that dance should be an integral part of education, as it teaches individuals about themselves and how to connect with others beyond words.

Finally, they discussed the spiritual aspect of dance and how it can be a form of worship and connection to a higher power. They believe that when a dancer is in the flow, there is a divine synergy that creates unforgettable moments and inspires both the performer and the audience.

Join us as we celebrate their journey and the lessons they've shared on embracing the dance of life.

Pornography, Pimps, and Sex Trafficking with Retired Detective Heidi Chance EP:53

Pornography, Pimps, and Sex Trafficking with Retired Detective Heidi Chance EP:53

Welcome back to another episode of the Say Yes Anyway podcast, where we dive deep into stories of courage and conviction, featuring individuals who have said "yes" to a calling that might not have made sense at first but felt undeniably right in their hearts. Today's episode is particularly close to my heart as we tackle a subject that's both harrowing and crucial to understand – human trafficking.

Our guest, Heidi Chance, is not just an incredible mother, friend, and wife, but she's also a retired detective from the Arizona Police Department with 25 years of service, including a significant focus on human trafficking cases. Heidi's journey is a testament to saying "yes" to a path laid out by a higher power, and her story is one of resilience, purpose, and the pursuit of justice.

Heidi's Personal Connection to Law Enforcement: Heidi shares her background, including how her father's career as a police officer influenced her own path into law enforcement. She recounts compelling stories from her youth that foreshadowed her future in the police force.

Transition to Human Trafficking Detective: Discover how Heidi's career evolved from targeting prostitutes to recognizing them as victims of a larger issue. She explains the shift in law enforcement's approach to human trafficking and the importance of understanding the elements of force, fraud, and coercion.

The Realities of Human Trafficking: Heidi debunks common misconceptions about human trafficking, clarifying that it's not like what's portrayed in movies like "Taken." Instead, she illuminates the complexities of the crime, including familial trafficking and the challenges faced in bringing traffickers to justice.

A Landmark Case: Heidi details a significant case involving seven victims, familial trafficking, and a trafficker with a twisted fascination with dominance and control. She highlights the perseverance required over the five-year period from disclosure to trial, resulting in a historic sentence for the trafficker.

The Impact of Pornography: We discuss the destructive role of pornography in fueling human trafficking and the importance of recognizing the humanity of those exploited in the industry.

Advice for Parents and Individuals: Heidi offers practical tips for parents to protect their children from potential traffickers and emphasizes the importance of community involvement in supporting victims.

Heidi's Continued Mission: Learn about Heidi's post-retirement endeavors, including her business, A Chance for Awareness, and her ongoing commitment to training law enforcement and raising awareness about human trafficking.

This episode is not just about being inspired by Heidi's dedication but also about understanding how each of us can take action in our own lives. Whether it's through educating ourselves or contributing to the fight against human trafficking, we all have a role to play. Heidi's story is a powerful reminder that saying "yes" to our calling, no matter how daunting, can lead to profound change and justice for those who need it most.

Thank you for tuning in, and let's continue to say "yes" to making a difference in the world, one conversation at a time.
