    This week the Tahoe TAP podcast brings you Cody Bass, current Mayor of City of South Lake Tahoe and Founder/Executive Director of Tahoe Wellness Center.
    Cody Bass was born into cannabis, but ventured into cultivating cannabis at the age of eighteen in the hills of Mendocino. He purchased his first parcel of land at twenty five to cultivate cannabis. This property is now licensed with Mendocino County for the legal cultivation for Tahoe Wellness Cooperative. Cody founded Tahoe Wellness Cooperative in January of 2009 and continues to serve as the Executive Director.Mayor Bass was initially elected to City Council in November 2018. He was re-elected in November 2022 to serve a 4-year term. In December 2022, he was appointed to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem for 2023. During his 2023 tenure, he also served as a board member for the Tahoe Transportation District, PADMA, and the Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority Board. In addition, Bass represented the city on the El Dorado County Transportation Commission, El Dorado County 2×2, Charter City Subcommittee, Multi-Cultural Alliance Subcommittee, Mental Health Subcommittee, Capital Improvement Program Subcommittee, and the South Shore Transit Subcommittee.

    During his 46 year career, John is well known for his work in bringing snowboarding to the resort industry, is credited with building the first full-time snowboard terrain park in the U.S. and continues to consult with resorts around the world - among many other community engagements!He keeps the tradition of family music alive as a guitarist and singer of "Preachers Pickers" and continues to stay active in youth sports and outdoor activities in the South Lake Tahoe community.

    The Devil Makes Three is an Americana band known for their unique blend of “bluegrass” which is described on their website as wandering folk, Delta blues, whiskey-soaked ragtime, and reckless rock ‘n’ roll. Their lyrics often explore themes of love, loss, addiction, and the darker aspects of life, drawing from both traditional folk music and contemporary storytelling.The band formed in 2002 in Santa Cruz, California, and consists of Pete Bernhard (guitar, vocals), Lucia Turino (upright bass, vocals), and Cooper McBean (guitar, banjo, vocals).One of the defining characteristics of The Devil Makes Three's music is their raw and energetic live performances, often featuring intricate vocal harmonies and skillful instrumentation. You can witness them LIVE at WinterWonderGrass on Saturday, April 6th, 2024!

    This week the Tahoe TAP podcast brings you Julie Regan, Executive Director of the Tahoe Planning Agency (TRPA) to chat about affordable housing solutions, struggles and strategies.
    Julie Regan is a seasoned Lake Tahoe executive. In 2022, the 15-member Governing Board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) selected Julie to lead the organization which is charged with environmental protection of the second deepest lake in the United States. Julie is a proven leader in environmental conservation, government affairs, and community engagement with decades of experience in the public and private sectors. She has held a leadership position at TRPA since 2003. Formed in 1969, TRPA was the first environmental interstate compact agency of its kind in the United States.
    Julie earned her master’s degree in journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia and is a doctoral candidate in environmental science at the University of Nevada, Reno focusing her research on the intersection of science and public policy, building on her experience at Lake Tahoe balancing environmental preservation in a $5-billion tourist-based economy. She is the past Co-Chair of the nationally focused Network for Landscape Conservation and has contributed writings on destination stewardship to the global conversation on over tourism.
    Originally from Delaware, Julie is celebrating three decades of community life at Tahoe where she’s been active in service organizations including being former Chair of the Barton Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. She enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and traveling with her family and dogs.
