The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won't find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you'll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the histories of England, Scotland, and Wales.

History happens.

Sit back and listen to Jamie bring the story of the life and times of real people to a level where you feel, actually feel why history happened the way it did. I look forward to every episode.

Best history podcast available!

Down to earth, story-driven walk through the British history. Brilliant stuff.

Extra-ordinary podcasts

Jamie does a great job in telling the history of Brittain in fantastic details, and in a personal manner. In the early epsiodes, his tendency to make contemporary associations annoyed me, but now he has developed into one of the best history podcasters I know off. He is a man with a vision, an idea on why he is doing this, great knowledge and a pronounced talent as story-teller. I particualr enjoy the way he enlighten the less known parts of British history, parts that have been formative for the later developments.
