    Naomi's Life-Cycle

    Naomi's Life-Cycle

“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going outside your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” — J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

What started off as a vehicle for freedom and indolence became a conversation on interdependence.

In this episode, Naomi shares her story being a commuter cyclist. From cycling through Chicago winters, to confronting mortality and challenging the status quo, Naomi recalls how this simple form of transportation changed her life.

Along the way you’ll hear the sisters discuss some practicalities that come with cycling as well as understanding the complex relationship between cyclists and motorists.

For more information you can check out Naomi’s website The Cycling Gospel

The Enneagram & The Five Elements

The Enneagram & The Five Elements

In this episode, the sisters discuss the Enneagram and the Five Elements, two different personality type/belief systems that have a lot in common. Enneagram is Greek for “nine-pointed figure” and the Five Elements comes from ancient Chinese culture.

Both systems have helped us learn more about ourselves and the people in our lives, but they have also given us deep emotional language to talk about self discovery and spiritual growth.

We hope you enjoy this episode and we hope that you check out some of the resources that have been most helpful to us.

    Enneagram Resources:

These are the resources that Naomi has relied on to learn more about the enneagram and my type. I highly recommend checking out The Enneagram Institute website as it provides a great history to the origin of the enneagram and how we have came to learn about it. The Wisdom of the Enneagram is practically a textbook. If you are interested in digging into the nitty gritty details of your type, this book is for you. The Road Back to You on the other hand is a much lighter read that provides a great scope of the enneagram complete with plenty of anecdotes. If you want to do deeper into contemplative practice and engaging with your enneagram type then The Sacred Enneagram is the choice for you.

Bethany & Matt of WDAFT Podcast on Mental Health & LOA

Bethany & Matt of WDAFT Podcast on Mental Health & LOA

[BE WARNED — Bunny Trails & Fuckery Ahead!] In episode 6, Lydia embarks with friends Bethany and Matt of We Didn’t Ask for This Podcast on a rambling adventure, foraying through all kinds of topics around mental health and the Law of Attraction, “The Secret,” and other comparable theories, and the harmful and excluding implications of those theories for those who struggle with mental health; bottom line — it's not that simple. We also commiserate on the struggles of being empaths, highly sensitive people, and melancholy artistic types. Overall, we explore how, by sharing our difficult experiences with others, we can find ways of gaining greater perspective and having more consideration for all our fellow humans of varying sensitivities, with the aim of becoming better at loving ourselves and others. Make sure to check out Matt & Bethany and We Didn’t Ask for This and give them a listen, subscribe, share with some friends, show them some love on their social media!
