On this week’s show, The YP’s football writers Stuart Rayner and Leon Wobschall, join host Mark Singleton to discuss the latest issues surrounding the Yorkshire football scene.

They start at the New York Stadium and what needs to happen next at Rotherham United after relegation after just two seasons in the Championship was confirmed and how they avoid being a yo-yo club between the second and third tiers of the English game. 

Sheffield United remain near-certainties to go straight back down to the Championship but it seems they are going down fighting, putting in a battling performance in a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool before snatching a point in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea. 

Huddersfield took one step forward and two steps back, following up a 1-0 win over Millwall with a 4-1 hammering on the road at Preston – do they have what it takes to beat the drop? Likewise Sheffield Wednesday who fought back to grab a 2-2 draw against Norwich City following on from a 2-0 win over QPR – do they have what it takes to beat the drop?

And, at the other end of the Championship table, Leeds United fell to their first league defeat of 2024 at possibly the worse time, their chances of automatic promotion not helped much later in the week when they were held 0-0 at home by Sunderland. Is it the play-offs that beckon for Daniel Farke’s team?

Also, Stuart and Leon pick out their player and team of the week.

Sheffield United looked to have found the winning formula only to be denied by Fulham in a 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane meaning they now sit 10 points from safety with nine games remaining and ahead of Thuesday’s trip to Anfield to take on Premier League high-fliers, Liverpool. Is there any hope of survival?

Continuing the theme of those teams from the White Rose struggling down the bottom of the standings, Stuart Rayner, Leon Wobschall and host Mark Singleton also discuss the survival chances of Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday.

Also, it is time to salute the patience of both fans and owners at Doncaster Rovers, who made it five wins on the trot to give themselves an outside chance of making the League Two play-offs. Can they gatecrash the top seven with a continued late surge and extend their season?

Andre Breitenreiter’s impressive start at Huddersfield Town also comes under the spotlight as do Bradford City’s fading play-off chances in League Two following their derby stalemate with Doncaster Rovers.
