Inside Edition for Thursday, April 25, 2024

It was a historic day for Donald Trump. In Washington, the Supreme Court heard arguments on whether he should have presidential immunity in his election interference case. While in New York, his hush money trial moved forward. While adult film star Stormy Daniels is at the center of the case it's actually another woman who may be called as a witness that court watchers say makes Trump nervous - former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Ann Mercogliano tells us why. And today it was announced that disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction is being overturned because an appellate court found he didn't get a fair trial. Now we're getting exclusive reaction from the foreman of the jury that convicted Weinstein in what was considered a pivotal moment of the “Me Too” era. Plus, two Americans went to Turks and Caicos for some fun in the sun. Now, they're trapped in paradise, not allowed to leave after getting caught with ammunition in their luggage. As Les Trent reports, they are just two of eight Americans arrested after a ban on bringing ammunition to the island was enforced  And if you have a cat, you've probably caught it climbing into empty boxes. However, one feline picked the wrong box! It was from Amazon and as Jim Moret reports, the kitty ended up being shipped out on a six day journey.

This was not a regular day at the barber shop....when two barbers spotted a toddler running alone towards a busy intersection they dropped their scissors and ran into action. As Les Trent reports, these guys are definitely a cut above the rest! And jurors in the Trump hush money trial have the day off as testimony will resume tomorrow in the case. The judge still has not ruled on whether to hold the former president in contempt of court for repeated violations of his order not to talk about participants in the case. However, some observers suggest Mr. Trump would welcome a jail sentence - for political gain. Plus, he was driving a loaner car while his own car was in the shop when he was pulled over. Within moments, the driver was terrified he was going to be shot by officers. As Jim Moret reports, he was innocent and it was all a big mistake. And there's a new product on the market…robot dogs armed with flame throwers are now being sold to the general public. Not everyone thinks that's such a good idea.

Heading into his hush money trial today former President Trump weighed in on all the unrest on college campuses saying more cops should have been sent in to restore order...instead of being at his trial. And a woman is accused of getting behind the wheel drunk and crashing into a birthday party leading to the death of two young siblings. Today at her arraignment she faced murder and driving under the influence charges while the victims aunt tearfully addressed the court. The suspect's attorney says she only had one glass of wine four hours before the crash...adding that she suffers from epileptic-like seizures in her legs. Plus, she's the mom who reportedly got deathly ill one hour after eating at a sushi restaurant. However, it appears it wasn't the raw fish that made her sick. The health department says it was most likely a mushroom in the sushi. As Jim Moret reports her death was so painful she wrote a handwritten note to her family that she couldn't go on. The woman's family is suing the restaurant which denies any wrongdoing. And an alligator strolling through a Florida neighborhood meets his match - getting wrangled by a dude with his bare hands! Turns out the gator messed with the wrong guy he's an MMA fighter, and this was not his first alligator smackdown.

Inside Edition for Monday, April 22, 2024

Big day at the Donald Trump hush money trial as opening statements got underway. However, proceedings at this historic and unprecedented trial ended hours early, around lunch time. So why was the trial the whole world is watching cut short today? Because one of the jurors...had to go to the dentist! And a man trapped in a burning SUV is praising the team of good Samaritans who risked their own lives to save him. Despite the fire ball and explosions, one by one they joined in and kept to the task at hand. As Les Trent reports, they've been named America's newest highway heroes. Plus, she was a widow who went online to find love again. She met a man on a dating website who appeared to be “Mr. Right.” However, authorities say he turned out to be a scammer who drained her of her 1.5 million dollar life savings. Then she was found dead, her family says of mysterious circumstances. Now as Alison Hall reports, the woman's daughter is sounding the alarm about what's been called an epidemic of romance scams. And the reviews are in for Taylor Swift's new album...but get this - one magazine was so scared of retaliation from Swifties over a bad review they erased the critic's name!

Major drama at the Donald Trump hush money trial. Just seconds after it was confirmed the entire jury pool had been picked, including 12 jurors and six alternates came a horrifying scene. A man set himself on fire right outside the courthouse. Ann Mercogliano was there and has a firsthand account. And we warn you the images are disturbing. And, we are now seeing bodycam video of police arriving on the scene of that heartbreaking uber shooting that shocked the nation. Both the 81-year-old man and the Uber driver he fatally shot had fallen victim to a phone scam. And as Jim Moret reports, the new video show cops getting the alleged scammer on the phone. The 81-year-old man has pled not guilty to murder charges. Plus, if you’re a Swiftie, you're probably feeling a bit tired today. Because last night at midnight, Taylor swift dropped her new album ‘Tortured Poets Department'. Our Alison Hall is among the millions caught up in Taylor mania. And, continuing chaos at Columbia University, pro-Palestinian demonstrators clashed with Israel supporters. And across the country at USC, a massive crowd marched to protest the school's decision to not allow a pro-Palestinian valedictorian to speak at graduation.

After a one-day break, court resumed today in Donald Trump's hush money trial and right away there was major chaos. The judge was hoping to wrap up jury selection tomorrow, but today two of the seated jurors were dismissed! And, this video will make your blood boil. A woman was shopping when a brazen creep appears to slide his cell phone right under her skirt. He may have gotten away if not for another woman who caught the incident on video and then confronted the guy until help arrived. Plus, it's the sentencing of a monster who will now likely die in prison. He abducted a nine-year-old on a camping trip with her family and kept her locked up in a cabinet in a trailer on his property. Thankfully, the brave little girl survived and as Les Trent reports, she's sending a message loud and clear to her kidnapper. And, it's Caitlyn Clark’s first time meeting the press as a pro basketball star and an exchange with one sports reporter was downright cringey.
