For Muslims, civic engagement is getting out there and fighting for issues that they hold dear to them and infusing them with their values and how they act upon them by simply being Muslim. On this episode, Dr. Aminah McCloud and Imam Fredrick alDeen discuss using civic engagement per the model of prophet Adam, as mentioned in the Quran, and his role as an educated person to participate on earth (i.e. becoming civically engaged). They further discuss what kind of knowledge civic engagement tells you to possess in order to be an effective citizen where you are in order to influence society in any positive way.

On this episode of Radio Islam, LA-based screenwriter Marisha Mukerjee joins us to discuss minority representation in TV/film. We focus on examples of South Asian female characters and Muslim characters, but we also branch out into a wider discussion on what “good representation” actually means and where we see the film industry heading in terms of expanding its audience and the variety of characters we see portrayed on screen.

On this episode, Pastor Jeff Braun, Rabbi Bruce Elder and Asif Masood join us for an important discussion on their experiences and testimonies during their aid relief mission at the US-Mexican border for those who have been displaced and mistreated while seeking asylum. Furthermore, we discuss their interfaith work as bringing them together to work for the common good of humanity as being a shared principle in their respective faith traditions.
