    Child On Sale

    Child On Sale

This episode of The Teens Podcast takes you through the journey of child trafficking in India. Though most of the trafficking occurs within the country, there is also a significant number of children trafficked from Nepal and Bangladesh. There are many different causes that lead to child trafficking, with the primary reasons being poverty, weak law enforcement, and a lack of good quality public education. In other cases, children are tricked into the hands of traffickers by being presented an opportunity for a job, when in reality, upon arrival they become enslaved. As many as one child disappears every eight minutes, according to the National Crime Records Bureau. In some cases, children are taken from their homes to be bought and sold in the market. Because of the nature of this crime; it is hard to track; and due to the poor enforcement of laws, it is difficult to prevent. Due to the nature of this crime, it is only possible to have estimates of figures regarding the issue. India has a very high volume of child trafficking. In India, there are many children trafficked for various reasons such as labor, begging, and sexual exploitation. The traffickers that take advantage of children can be from another area in India, or could even know the child personally. Children who return home after being trafficked often face shame in their communities, rather than being welcomed home. India is a prime area for child trafficking to occur, as many of those trafficked are from, travel through or destined to go to India.

    Love vs tradition !

    Love vs tradition !

In India love affairs have become the third largest motive of killing of a person . Love is said to be beautiful and God gifted, but in India people still don't believe in it .

Here in many of the States and villages , people have views that "If people start choosing their own partners, it is humiliating for their parents. How can anyone do that? It is wrong, we cannot accept it. For example, parents will be and should be against marrying people from other castes".

Yes, this is ridiculously unacceptable! Intercaste marriages are one of the biggest reason of murdering of both women and men .

Let me introduce you to Pranay,23 year old a dalit boy who fell in love with Amrutha , 20 year old . Pranay and Amrutha got married against amurtha's family and they were living peacefully and happily as they didn't knew the danger was still there .

It was less than a month later , one afternoon the couple was returning from doctor's appointment near a small Indian city in the south where they grew up . A man came up behind them with a large knife and hacked Pranay twice , killing him instantly .

You must be thinking "why?" , Because Pranay was a dalit (untouchable) and Amrutha was from a powerful family . Her father was so outraged that he sent men to kill his son-in-law !

One such story is of a couple of Tamil Nadu , where at a stormy night a couple's body was found in the cauvery river . The woman belonged to a community of most backward castes and the man was a dalit . To punish her for marrying outside her caste her family killed them both.

In Haryana , the honor killing of couples are so vast that the government had to build safe homes for those couples who married against their parents . The prevailing khap Panchayat in districts of Haryana are allegedly against love affairs and marriages . They without the permission of the court give the judgement to even kill the couple who did inter-caste marriages .

The supreme court has already said that the khap Panchayat should not set up in any village . But yet the Panchayats exist . The supreme court in it's statement also said that when two adults marry each other , there is no one who can interfere not even their family . But the khaps replied that " we honor the supreme court , but if such kind of rules will be made we will not follow it ".

In this growing world , there still exists such sick mindsets . Is love a crime ? Are all the castes not human ? Why do young couples have to lose their lives for being in love ?

Why not break the social taboos ? Why not fight for basic human rights ? Raise your voice ! Comment down your views below!

    Indian Democracy

    Indian Democracy

Indian democracy was established just after the Independence of India in the year of 1950 on 26 January with the adoption of Constitution, that is celebrated all over the country as Republic Day . It is the world's largest democracy with more than 136 crore citizens. Now, what is actually a democracy? A democracy consists of a setup of government by the people that is the citizens of the country, through elected representatives. India is a parliamentary secular democratic Republic , in which prime minister is the head of the government and the president is the head of the state.

India is a democratic country, but why is it a democracy? Our country conducts national elections every five year to elect a government by the representatives of people, which means no political party can have a complete authority over the government thereby destroying the democratic nature of the country. It also has a federal structure, that means it consists of a central government at the centre and the state governments at the periphery. It has two legislative houses a upper house that is Rajya Sabha and the lower house that is the Lok Sabha. All members of elected by the people of the country and for the people of the country, making India the largest democratic country.

But, what is the biggest threat to democracy? It is Communalism. Communalism is the biggest threat to the democracy of India. Communalism means a belief that only a particular ethnic group can live in the country with equal rights and not people from other religions. India being a secular democratic Republic, cannot entertain communalism within its territory. Indian leaders of the times of 1947 and after that too wanted India to be secular, and it was also made secular in the year 1950 after the adoption of Constitution. India in it's history has always found promoting brotherhood among all the religion and providing equal rights and citizenships to all the people. But in today's India communalism has come forward to an extent as a threat to the democratic nature. A particular ethnic group that is the majority in India practicing Hinduism have been promoted largely due to some political reasons making the people of other religions insecure about their rights in the country. In 2014, riots took place all over the country with killing of hundreds of Muslims, due to political reasons which clearly shows the seed of communalism in the democracy. There are so many such incidents that occurred in these years. Hence, this decade has been proved the biggest threat to the democratic nature of the country.

This is not what we have learnt in schools, we have learnt the importance of a democracy. Each citizen needs to understand what democracy is, promoting a single religion is a threat to our very own country.
