    Talking Through What We Become

For episode 112 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle, Mark, and, for the last part of it, Brian talk through The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 13 titled What We Become. This episode was written by Vivian Tse and directed by Sharat Raju.

Virgil lippin’ and Michonne trippin’ into some drugged induced flashbacks!

We had a lot of callbacks, some weak sauce in Virgil’s a.k.a. Morgan character, and some far-reaching plot devices to push our katana-wielding heroine into the great unknown. Not to say it was a bad episode. We did enjoy it for the most part. Overall just a disappointing sendoff for Michonne. It’s always a joy to see flashbacks.. or in this episode.. drug-induced hallucinations, of some of our favorite characters and epic scenes of seasons past. So with that, heat the kettle. Make a big o’ cup of Jimsonweed and let’s step headfirst into the rabbit hole.

    TWDTT 111 – Walk With Us (S10E12)

    Talking Through Walk With Us

For episode 111 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle, Mark, and some voicemail from Brian talk through The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 12 titled Walk With Us. This episode was written by Eli Jorné & Nicole Mirante-Matthews and directed by Greg Nicotero.

Hilltop Burns, Judith Stabs, and we lose some but one was worth the wait!

This episode was action-packed from the start. We have never seen The Hilltop is such die straights before but unfortunately for our group, they couldn’t hold and had to retreat. Negan, in the end, surprised us all and after such a long wait the payoff is well… how can I say… came to a head. So enjoy as we discuss this episode in all its flaming glory.

    Ratings are WAY UP!!!

In a shocking turn of events, ratings for S10E12 Walk With Us are way up from last week’s historic lows. It got a 1.23 in the 18-49 demographic, with 3.494 million viewers. This is up from last week‘s episode, which got a 0.92 in the 18-49 and 2.927 million viewers. That’s an increase of 0.31 in the 18-49 and 567,000 viewers, up 34 and 19% respectively. But what an episode NOT to have a corresponding episode of Talking Dead with it! Due to the Coronavirus scare, Talking Dead did not have an episode this week. AMC aired an episode of Norman Reedus’ Ride instead. This is the first time an episode of The Walking Dead hasn’t had a corresponding Talking Dead since Season 1 if you don’t count the “Survival Sunday” Season 8 finale episode, which aired directly after the Season 4 premiere of Fear the Walking Dead and featured cast from both shows.

    Talking Through Morning Star

For episode 110 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle, Mark, and Brian talk through The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 11 titled Morning Star. Well, Brian was here for most of it, anyway. This episode was written by Julia Ruchman & Vivian Tse and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis.

Sappy Sacks, Iron Maiden’s Final Frontier and a whole lot of suspense!

This episode was kind of a slow burn but it sure did end with our group in a sappy pickle. Alpha and Negan get a little closer to which we almost don’t know who’s side he’s on. Gamma goes to hillside with the crew and tries to reunite with Adam or Alex or whatever they are calling her nephew. We get great interaction with many of the characters. Daryl and Carol, Ezekiel and Daryl, Eugene and Rosita and the mysterious Stephanie from Can-ah-wa or Can-aw depending on where you’re from. But overall we get to the flaming walker meat that we have been waiting for between the Hillside Posse and Alpha’s horde.

    Talking Through Stalker

For episode 109 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle and Mark talk through The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 10, titled Stalker, with Brian joining along for some of it. This episode was written by Jim Barnes and directed by Bronwen Hughes.

Gabriel’s Third Eye, Alpha and Daryl dance off, and Beta rises from the Grave!

This was an action pack episode with some scary moments for some of our favorite characters. Almost too scary. Beta infiltrates Alexandria through an impossible to believe tunnel system. He rises from the grave and walkerized some of our people to get Gamma out of jail. Alpha and Daryl go stabby stabby with each other. And Gabriel, the truth detector, gets intel from Gamma and kind of gets duped that leave Alexandria unprotected. This really doesn’t look good for the future of our group, going forward. We shall see.

    Talking Through Squeeze

For episode 108 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle and Mark talk through The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 9, titled Squeeze. This episode was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis.

Update on hosting duties this back half..

As some of you might know, Brian has been running the show over at Star Trek Picard Cast and it’s been time consuming for him. But don’t worry as Mark crossed over to jailbreak Kyle from Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through and freed him from Virginia’s prison community. So he will be with us for the remainder of this season. (Unless Virginia figured out how to cross time and space) And Brian hopefully will be able to join us at a later date once things quiet down.

Caves, Explosions, Naked Bodies, Oh My!

Well there seems to be a theme among everyone’s feedback this week. “Gross!” Naked Negan and Alpha bumping uglies (thank god they didn’t show that) had everyone cringe. While it worked to show Negan make inroads…ewww… i mean infiltrating the Whisperers. It was a lot that could have been left unseen. Gamma’s betrayal seems to have been uncovered and what that means for our group we will see. Carol’s repeated blundering might have cost us Connie and Magna, but let’s hope they survived. So an explosive start to 10B, for sure.

    Talking Through The World Before

For episode 107 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle returns as we talk through The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 8, titled The World Before. This episode was written by Julia Ruchman and directed by John Dahl.

We have feedback for last week’s episode…

We had some feedback for last week’s episode. The discussion for this week’s episode begins at 17 minutes and 39 seconds.

macro plot issues vs. Micro plot issues.

I just had a brilliant idea pop into my head to explain the problems with fear versus the problems with The Walking Dead And this episode is a good example of the two. Sometimes, The Walking Dead suffers from micro plot issues. In other words how something happens in a scene or the explanation for a particular action, like them all going into the cave or Michonne going off in a boat, is poorly executed. The problem on fear is a macro plot ssue. It’s not the mostly the little things that they do from scene to scene that cause issues, although it still has problems with micro plot issues, the problem with fear is that there are issues with the entire story arc. Those are much more severe and problematic.

Ratings are surprisingly down for a mid-season finale…

Ratings for S10E8 The World Before are lower than last week. It got a 1.02 in the 18-49 demographic, with 3.214 million viewers. This is down from last week, which got a 1.12 in the 18-49 and 3.311 million viewers. That 1.02 means the show is going into the break at its all-time low ratings for the show in its 10-season history. That doesn’t bode well for the second half, which is historically lower than the first half. Talking Dead was down as well. It got a 0.29 in the 18-49 demographic, with 1.133 million viewers, down from 0.41 and 1.380 million last week.
