[Music] BEN&BEN Talks About The Band Journey, Collaboration with Petra Sihombing, and “Comets”

    Hello Listeners!

In this episode, we had the opportunity to have a conversation with Filipino folk-pop indie band Ben&Ben

Ben&Ben, formed by twin brothers Paolo and Miguel Benjamin Guico (lead vocals and acoustic guitar), initially called themselves the Benjamins. They later evolved into an ensemble, adding Poch Barretto (guitar), Keifer Cabugao (violin), Patricia Lasaten (keyboard), Toni Muñoz (percussion), Andrew de Pano (percussion), Agnes Reoma (bass), and Jam Villanueva (drums). Ben&Ben invites listeners on a journey of self-reflection with the release of their new single in 2024, "Comets,". It's a collaborative single from two countries and also marks Ben&Ben's venture into the Indonesian music industry, as they collaborate with Indonesian musician and producer Petra Sihombing on this single. "Comets" is an emotional song conveying the fleeting nature of relationships and breakups. Although the song reminisces about memories with mixed feelings of loss and contemplation, the experiences it brings offer hope and bright acceptance, regardless of the outcome. According to Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin, the songwriters behind "Comets," this pop-rock song is inspired by the many losses of people they've encountered in various parts of their lives over the past four years: farewells, the end of friendships, parting ways in their professional relationships.

[Music] SASHA ALEX SLOAN Talks About Going Independent, Sad Girl, and Third Album “Me Again”

[Music] SASHA ALEX SLOAN Talks About Going Independent, Sad Girl, and Third Album “Me Again”

    Hello Listeners!

In this episode, we had the opportunity to have a conversation with Sasha Alex Sloan

Sasha Born and raised in the Boston area, writing songs as a teenager and was accepted to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, but her schooling was cut short when, at 19, she signed a publishing deal and moved to Los Angeles. Sloan released her first EPs, Sad Girl, Loser, and Self-Portrait in quick succession, followed by her first two albums, Only Child and I Blame the World. Last year, a month after she played Coachella, Sloan announced that she was leaving her major label and going independent, news that would surprise anyone observing her from the outside, thinking she’d really made it. Written and recorded in Nashville, where she now lives with her husband and their many pets, Sloan’s third album, Me Again is a self-portrait. Aside from a few collaborative sessions with choice songwriters she trusted, like Joy Williams (the Civil Wars) and Ruston Kelly, Sloan wrote the entire album with her husband, King Henry, picking up a guitar or scribbling down a lyric as they went about their life as a couple. Sloan was determined that the instrumentation not distract from the plainspoken admissions in her lyrics, making the album feel like a conversation between intimates.
