    The Mission of SORBA

    The Mission of SORBA

Dawson is out this week and we were fortunate enough to have Jason Finnell step in and co-host with Clint. Jason is an avid outdoor enthusiast and has been on Day Fire multiple times. Jason invited some of his friends from SORBA (Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association) to join us in-studio. Philip Darden - Executive Director and Jen Flavin - Development Director, stopped by and we talked about SORBA's mission, the challenges, the opportunities, their successes, and much more! It was a fun conversation and as you would expect - included stories and laughter!

More about SORBA from their website www.sorba.org:
Since 1989, The Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association has worked to ensure that our public lands offer fun, challenging and sustainable mountain biking for all mountain bikers. As the leading mountain biking organization in the southeast, we believe everyone should have access to the social, physical, and mental benefits that mountain biking provides.

Through advocacy, education and resource sharing, SORBA and its forty-seven chapters envision a future where mountain biking is at the center of healthy, economically vibrant, and environmentally sustainable communities throughout the Southeast, with well-planned, accessible, and progressive trail systems.

SORBA relies on our generous members to carry out our mission. Our volunteers donate thousands of hours each year to advocate for trail access, raise funds for trail development, build trails, and maintain trails. Please support our cause Join SORBA today! Or donate!

SORBA and its Chapters are 501c organizations. SORBA has chapters in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. All contributions are tax deductible.

Mitchell Connell / Two Bikes Chattanooga

Mitchell Connell / Two Bikes Chattanooga

This week Clint and Dawson sit down with Mitchell Connell. Mitchell is an avid cyclist who splits his time on the bike between commuting, touring, and riding roads, trails, and gravel. As long as Mitchell’s riding bikes with his friends, he’s happy.

Mitchell works as a bicycle nonprofit professional and freelance photographer and writer. Mitchell is the founder of Two Bikes Knoxville, Two Bikes Chattanooga and is a contributor to The Radavist.

Mitchell has helped grow Two Bikes from a small grassroots nonprofit to a regionally-leading organization that has provided more than 1,000 bikes to underserved community members, more than 50 paid internships to at-risk youth, and helped lead more than 100 community-focused group rides.

    Bike Packing the Annapurna Circuit

    Bike Packing the Annapurna Circuit

This week Clint and Dawson sat down with three guests, Luke Swab, Matt Schweiker and Michael Kohn . In December 2023, these three friends from Chattanooga Tennessee, packed their bags and bikes for a trip to Nepal to tackle the Annapurna Circuit on bike. Nepal is renowned for being the home of the world’s highest mountains, the Himalayas. The route climbs 33,776 feet over 240 miles and reaches a high point at Thorong La Pass at 17,769 feet. Matt, Luke and Michael came back with stories of battling high altitude, freezing temperatures and the remarkable culture and hospitality of the Nepalese people. Join us as we listen, learn and laugh as they share stories about their adventure and each other.
