S2 E6- Love and Boundaries with Tykia Key

S2 E6- Love and Boundaries with Tykia Key

Continuing with the season 2 topic of Love, this episode we're talking about the B-word, Boundaries. I've touched on boundaries in almost every episode this season but this time I made it the focus. I'm joined with the inspiring and animated Tykia Key as my cohost. In true KIWC fashion, this episode is full of song lyrics and movie references. You're gonna laugh and you're gonna learn. Listen in on our conversation as we share our thoughts, experiences, and learn to skip in our own box. Don't forget to like, follow, subscribe, share, all the things. And be sure to check out GudPeopleCo.com.

S2 E5- Love Lessons with Raven Ariana

S2 E5- Love Lessons with Raven Ariana

In this episode, I’m chatting with the founder of Nevermore Creative, Raven Ariana. (Sidebar: I really hope you grasp the awesome literally reference here). Raven and I discuss lessons learned by “digging through her archives of hurt.” As Khalil Gibran writes in his book The Prophet, “For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he also for your pruning.” But don’t worry, this episode is still full of laughs because joy and sorrow often walk hand in hand. I pray this conversation brings you hope and healing. Be sure to Like, Follow, Subscribe, Share, all the things, and visit nevermorecreative.org.

S2 E4- HOT Conversations with LaVida Johnson- part 1

S2 E4- HOT Conversations with LaVida Johnson- part 1

In this episode, I attempted to continue the conversation on love be we ended going down several rabbit holes. It’s a good thing though because we picked up some nuggets along the way. Sometimes the journey is the destination. (That seems to be the running theme of my life.) We touched on some controversial topics and some unpopular opinions. It’s okay to disagree, just be civil about it. This conversation was so rich that I had to split the recording into 2 episodes so stay tuned for part 2. Be sure to check out LaVida’s podcast, Courage of Conviction. Don’t forget to Like, Subscribe, Follow, Share, and all the things. Cohost: LaVida Johnson

S2 E3- What About Your Friends

S2 E3- What About Your Friends

Continuing on with the theme of love, in this episode we're talking about philio, b.k.a friendship. Making friends can be hard but keeping friends is even harder. My 2 co-hosts and I talk about the difference between friends and associates, what makes a friend, and friendship breakups. The love between friends can be a beautiful thing when done right and deep pain that's rarely talked about when that bond is broken. I'm also learning to do friendship differently by learning the skill of Relational Intelligence. I titled this episode after the TLC song because the lyrics are fitting and hit differently as an adult.
Co-hosts: Iyanu Adeleke and Anonymous Ashley
Book References: Relational Intelligence by Dr. Dharius Daniels

S2 E2- Get Your Own Donkeys!

S2 E2- Get Your Own Donkeys!

This episode I’ll be discussing the movie Encanto with my first special guest/cohost, my sister, Christen! (How appropro to be discussing a movie about family with family.) There will definitely be spoilers so listen at your own discretion. My sister is also a mom so you’ll hear a brief cameo by my adorable nephew who I lovingly refer to as Thing 2. Keeping in line with the previous episode we’ll also be exploring familial love.

S2 E1- Some Thoughts on Love

S2 E1- Some Thoughts on Love

I’m back! After taking a year off I’m warming up the mic again. This season 2 premier episode is all about one of my core values, LOVE. Since it’s February it seems like the appropriate topic. It’s also Black History Month and I’m Black so by listening to this you’re hitting 2 birds with one stone! There’s more to love than what you see in rom coms. Listen in as I attempt to discuss the other aspects of love. I made a pronunciation error that I need to correct. The author of The Prophet is Khalil Gibran, not Gabrill. The other books mentioned are The 4 Loves by CS Lewis, All About Love by bell hooks, Let Love Have the Last Word by Common, The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, and Relational Intelligence by Dr. Dharius Daniels.
