Queer in College is a six episode podcast mini-series about the queer student experience. Each episode will feature guests from a variety of backgrounds (students, professionals, professors, etc.) to give a broad range of queer issues in higher education. We will ask big questions - the kinds which may or may not have clear answers - and we will attempt to educate, speak authentically from our own experiences, and provide resources for those who wish to challenge systems.

Spirituality and Queer Identity on a College Campus

Spirituality and Queer Identity on a College Campus

In the sixth and final installment of Queer in College, I wanted to talk about spirituality and queer identity, as it has been a major question in my own journey. Join me in conversation with the wonderful Reverend Kate Taber as we discuss what it means to engage with students who may feel excluded or harmed by religion and why it might be compelling to ask questions of spirituality while in college. I am left with so many more questions, but my hope is that this conversation does not stop here!

What's it like being a professional who works with queer students?

In this episode, I chat with Deborah Allen and Morgan Danyi, the Director and Assistant Director of the Center for Inclusive Communities at Furman University. Join us as we discuss whether or not there is a "universal queer experience" and provide practical ways to support students with complex and intersectional identities. How did having queer friends affect your college experience?

In the first episode of Queer in College, join me as I talk with my two best friends, Ben Davids and Davis Cousar, to discuss what it was like to have gay friends in college. Together we reflect on how our different identities affected our engagement with Greek Life, New Student Orientation, and impacted our understanding of larger, structural issues of oppression within higher education and beyond.
