About Dave
To understand what Dave does and why he does it one would have to understand his background. Like many others, he grew up in a very dysfunctional, chaotic and even violent at times, household. All of his parents, his mother, father and stepfather were all very emotionally insecure and immature causing their relationships between themselves and with their children to be quite dysfunctional. As a result, Dave got pretty screwed up mentally and emotionally.

 

He went into talk therapy at the age of 25 to figure out his issues and, from that point on, engaged in 10 years of talk therapy in a fifteen year span due to his anger/rage, high anxiety and bouts of depression. Unfortunately, he felt like he walked out of therapy after ten years invested feeling like he had pretty much the same amount of anger/rage he had walked in with 10-15 years prior. And, he still had a lot of anxiety and feelings of depression as well.

 

So, he began to seek out other ways to help him resolve his issues. Dave’s journey to heal himself opened many doors to find incredibly effective, quick, easy ways to release one’s anxiety, stress, worry, depression, excess anger, sadness, guilt, shame, and, even, physical pain, etc. Dave knows that these methods work because he’s been very successful using them on himself, as well as others in his therapy practice over the years. These newfound methods released him from his anger/rage, his anxiety and bouts of depression.

 

He used to hate that he got so screwed up as a kid. Now he loves the fact that he got so screwed up, now even feeling that it was all a part of his spiritual journey. As a result of his screwed up childhood he sought out, found and experienced some incredibly effective healing methods that helped him to resolve and release his major issues. Being a therapist, he has also been helping others resolve their issues as well with the same methods that helped him. Dave has remarked that there’s a kind of irony here where it was almost like he had to get screwed up enough so he could spend years in therapy, in talk therapy as well as working on himself with all these other methods he’s found, to see what worked and what didn’t so he could teach others the same.

 

Dave’s Professional Life

 

His search led him to some very effective methods to relieve and release stress in all its forms, such as Brainspotting, E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Techniques), Hypnosis, a method called Ask and Receive that works with your “Higher Self” and many other alternative healing methods which even included some energy healing methods.

 

Dave has spent the last 40 plus years in the business of helping people resolve those issues in their lives that had limited them in some way. He has helped people of all ages in all kinds of mental health and drug/alcohol facilities resolve their issues. He has learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t work in the helping field.

 

Dave graduated Summa Cum Laude and was listed in Who’s Who of American Colleges and Universities in his senior year of his bachelor’s program and was one of 25 students of 800 applicants that was accepted into the Clinical-Advanced Standing Program of Columbia University's School of Social Work.

 

After Dave graduated from Columbia University he completed a number of post-graduate program

On this show we're going to explore how our thoughts, beliefs and perceptions cause our feelings and behaviors, both positive and negative, and how these things create our individual Realities. And, we are also going to talk about how you can change any negative thoughts/beliefs, negative feelings and behaviors you have if you wish to do so.

    The Couple that Works on their Issues Together Stays Happy Together. In my therapy Practice I use a couple's therapy method called Imago Relationship Therapy, a therapy that was created for couples by Harville Hendrix, Phd., and his wife, Dr. Helen LaKelly Hunt over 25 years ago. The rather famous book written on the subject is the best seller called, "Getting the Love You Want". I was trained in this method a number of years ago and find it to be very helpful with both couples as well as individuals who come in having problems with their spouse.

    One of the main tenets in this model of therapy is that when we get attracted to someone and end up with them being our boyfriend, girlfriend, partner or spouse, we are initially attracted to the positive and negative characteristics of our parents. As it says on the IRT website, "The term Imago is Latin for image, and refers to the unconscious image of familiar love. Simply put, there is often a connection between the frustrations experienced in adult relationships and early childhood experiences. For example: If you frequently felt criticized as a child, you will likely be sensitive to any criticism from, and feel criticized often by your partner. Likewise, if you felt abandoned, smothered, neglected, etc., these feelings will come up in your marriage/committed relationships.

    Most people face only a few of these core issues, but they typically arise again and again within partnerships. This can overshadow all that is good in the relationship, leaving people to wonder if they have chosen the right mate. So here is the good news: When you can understand each other s feelings and childhood wounds more empathically, you can begin to heal yourself and your relationship, and move toward a more conscious relationship."

    So, that's what we're going to be talking about during this show, how we push each others "buttons" (our "childhood wounds") in our relationships, causing the problems and dysfunction in our relationships. We are going to talk about where these "buttons" come from, and how we can help each other work with and release these "buttons", helping each of you move from blame and reactivity to understanding and empathy.     Do you have anxiety? Would you let go of your anxiety if you could? If so, do you believe that it's possible that you can do that without medication and years of therapy? Or are you trapped in the medical model's traditional belief that if you have anxiety you must have the gene to be that way and therefore, doomed to a life sentence of taking medication in order to get any kind of relief from your symptoms?

    Are you now or were you ever in therapy for your anxiety? Are you getting (or did you get) the results that you're looking for? Are you getting to and resolving/releasing the "roots" of your issues related to your anxiety so you can be free of it? And, if not, are you open to believe that it s possible to find newer, more effective methods that will help you release your anxiety once and for all?

    Well, on this show we're going to be talking about, #1 - how it's already been proven that your genes are not your destiny and that the "control" of life is not in your genes. And, #2 - that there are a number of very effective, quick and simple methods that you can apply to yourself to let go of your anxiety. These facts are not universally known at this time by the average lay person because the information is relatively new and this knowledge has not had enough time to become mainstream yet. But, because of my own search for answers in my personal life I have been very fortunate in not only using these methods to heal myself, but I m also trained in a number of them and have helped many people let go of their anxiety by using these new, cutting-edge methods. I want to show them to you as well. The method I'm going to describe today and play a little bit with is called E.F.T.

    Method of the Month - E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a self-applied acupressure technique that utilizes a number of acupressure points on the upper body to tap with your fingers, which releases any unwanted emotions. E.F.T. (also called "tapping" and "The Tapping Solutions") is very effective at releasing anxiety as well as any other negative thoughts or feelings that you want to release.
