Stelarc is a performance artist whose work explores and expands the concept of the body and its relationship with technology. He is renowned for his early body suspension pieces with hooks into the skin. Throughout his career he has used medical instruments, prosthetics, robotics, Virtual Reality systems, the internet and biotechnology to engineer intimate and involuntary interfaces with the body.
