#27: Stop Telling Moms It's Easy To Run a Biz & Work From Home With Kids with Jamie Gonsioroski Free Happy & Thriving | Online Business & Marketing Podcast

    • Empresa

A few weeks ago I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across a reel by Jamie Richelle Designs, who I didn't know at that point. The reel said: Unpopular Opinion, stop telling moms that it's easy to run a business and work from home with kids.
I felt that message in my heart, for many reasons.
1. I am a mom working from home with kids running my business and it's the best thing that ever happened to me....but it's far from easy.
2. I help moms start an online business so they can have more time with their kids (as opposed to a job)
So I felt both connected emotionally to my circumstances and called out. I wondered whether I'm part of the problem. Whether I make it look easy when it's not.
So I took 2 steps:
Step 1: I recorded episode #16 Practical Ways to Start an Online Business and Work from Home with Kids
I shared my truth and tips I felt helped. Even a free resource guide you can grab in the show notes.
I sent that to Jamie and I told her how much her message touched me. We had a conversation.
And it only made sense that we should more about it. So I did this:
Step 2: I invited Jamie for an interview.
And here we are in the show note of the most vulnerable discussions I've ever had with a stranger on the internet. But Jamie doesn't feel like a stranger anymore, because 2 mothers can connect deeply even across the oceans when they talk all things motherhood, womanhood and businesshood :)

Our chat: Stop telling moms that it's easy to run a business and work from home with kids - because it's worth it but certainly not easy
I am so grateful for how open and honest Jamie has been about her journey starting a business whilst working a 5+ hours job in a metro hospital during the pandemic. How she navigated it all around being pregnant and raising little babies, managing it with her husband and also working on prioritising herself.
In the conversation, I share my story too, things I never felt I could say out loud on the internet about what it really takes to make this work with little children.

The goal of this episode is for you, the mama out there, struggling or working through this, to know that you are not alone and you are not doing it wrong. That Jamie and I, and millions upon millions of other moms around the world are going through the same. Keep going, find your flow. It's not easy, so if it doesn't feel easy, you're truly not doing it wrong.

I hope you enjoy the conversation and that it serves you.
