To Submit or Not to Submit - That is the Question Part 1

To Submit or Not to Submit - That is the Question Part 1

This can be a touchy subject for a number of reasons. When in the early stages and most restrictive lock downs of the Corona Virus pandemic, we began to see many arguments about submitting to government. It was a difficult conversation between just about anyone. There were many sides on each point. In addition to the government, submission to someone is a part of our everyday lives. We hope to spark conversation about this touchy subject in a well thought out and respectful way. By now I'm sure you've discovered, we don't issue decrees of righteousness here. Our goal is to encourage and discuss. This is part 1 of a 2 part series. We hope you enjoy.

Be intentional about discipling your kids - Part 2

Be intentional about discipling your kids - Part 2

Is your kid a failure? We're only joking but they can have weaknesses. As parents how can we help our kids overcome their shortcomings? Does it even matter if they have weaknesses? Maybe we would be better off focusing on their strengths. There are no real right or wrong answers but we think this is a topic worth exploring. So often, when we think of discipleship, we only consider the spiritual aspect. There are so many other practical aspects to life that deserve just as much of our attention. This is part two of a discussion on discipleship. If you missed the first one, got back and listen before getting started here. We also have a special announcement.

Be intentional about discipling your kids - Part 1

Be intentional about discipling your kids - Part 1

For Christian parents, one of our biggest hopes and goals is for our kids to grow up and love Jesus. It seems that parents can believe that a steady regiment of Sunday school and felt boards is enough to accomplish this. Raising kids in a "Christian" home isn't enough. We believe you have to be intentional about evangelizing and discipling your kids. Their salvation is their decision and we discuss how our parents led us down this path and how we are going to try and lead our kids. This was broken into two parts and we'll have the follow up next week. As always, we hope this prompts reflexion and good discussions with your friends and family.

Christianity and Perfection: What were we thinking?

Christianity and Perfection: What were we thinking?

We've touch on perfection before but from our own personal viewpoint. Today we discuss how Christianity may have impacted our desire to be perfect. It's not something that is always talked about, but there is a goal or striving to have it "all together". While there is nothing wrong with aiming to improve, it doesn't always seem like there is room for the journey. We know this has had a major impact on both of us and we want to make sure it doesn't negatively impact our kids. As always, we hope this causes you to ask questions about yourself and your beliefs. We believe when you do that, you'll either solidify your position or find areas where you may still need to grow. We hope you enjoy.

    Life at a distance

    Life at a distance

It's been over a year since we all went into lock down because of COVID-19. For many people life has changed radically. For others, things haven't changed too much. We discuss how living life at a distance has impacted us both professionally and personally. Working from home has presented unique issues for both of us in different ways. Distance learning is also a reality for us as well. It's changed the classroom for Tracie as a teacher and for my kids as students.

We also cover a few housekeeping items about the podcast. This was a fun episode to record and we hope you enjoy. We would also love to hear from you about future topics. Be sure to reach out to us via email or social media to give us your feedback.

Work life balance or the lack there of

Remember when adults used to ask you what you wanted to be when you grew up? Did anyone ever answer underpaid and overworked? It's so common to see people post about always grinding but is that really the best way to achieve your dreams? I guess that depends on your dreams. This week we begin a conversation about work life balance, what it means, and possibly how to achieve it. Who do you think is the guilty one in this episode? This one went longer than we planned so this is part 1. Next week we'll finish things up. Enjoy.
