Why Clementine is NOT a 'manic pixie dream girl'

Why Clementine is NOT a 'manic pixie dream girl'

I know that you are probably wondering where 'Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' comes into this episode. Rest assured, I do eventually talk about Clementine, the absolute love of my love, and move on from my fixation on the Umbrella Academy season two that I finished moments before recording this. I do apologise though for the spoilers and also the rambling that has absolutely nothing to do with Eternal Sunshine at all. So spoilers I guess. I also want to drum home that I literally have zero education on either film or editing, so they both seem rather shabby right now, or just completely non-existent.

The playlist is as follows (i usually take three from the film and then three that I think fit the vibe):

Everybody's gotta learn sometime - Beck (this version was the one used in the film and although it isn't the original I have to say that it is my favourite. It has been taken off Spotify but there are still good versions out there)

Mr. blue sky - Electric Light Orchestra

Light and day - The Polyphonic Spree

All we ever wanted was everything - Bauhaus

This is not possible - Sun Kil Moon (this tune is an acquired taste and I'm still not sure if I like it but listen to it whilst driving in the dark, possibly when raining)

    Get thy bearings - Donovan

Here is the information on the Black Lives Matter movement (i will also encourage you to look up what happened in Lebanon and also what is still happening in Yemen and do what you can. I know it's difficult for one person to feel like they have any kind of impact but the impact is created by togetherness so, not to quote Tesco or anything, 'every little helps'). https://blacklivesmatter.carrd.co/. Also, I'm not sure if I have mentioned it yet, but you should still be careful with Coronavirus and try and abide a little with the guidelines set out where you live. Weirdly enough, it is still going on, and people should still be respectful, especially to those who have lost people. No one's immune, wear a mask.

Next week I may have a guest on the show!! technically I haven't asked anyone yet but if I manifest it as people like saying then perhaps something may happen ;). Who knows what we will talk about. I'm not going to say a film that may feature because as soon as I write it down it's like 500% less likely to be considered by me. Have a good day! Sleep! Go! Love!

Who is CHERITA Chen and why is she so important?

Who is CHERITA Chen and why is she so important?

Hello everybody, first of all, I want to apologise for getting Ms' Chen's name wrong just so many times I love her so much and this is simply not the way to show that love. I also want to apologise for making a tiny paper octopus during this because you can hear the rustling however, as is understandable, I have to make this octopus it's incredible. It's like red and its leg stick up and it's really cute anyway getting slightly ahead of myself here. This episode is on Donnie Darko which is absolutely my favourite film ever I have watched it around 6 or 7 times in the past week and it never gets bad. Go watch it! if you haven't watched it this episode will still be absolutely fine to listen to because nothing I say even comes close to what happens in that film. I have many more things to say about it so I am trying to condense things into smaller more specific episodes? and what is this but exactly that? apart from perhaps a disaster.
The playlist for the film is as follows (i usually take three from the film and three I think fit the vibe):
The killing moon - Echo and the Bunnymen (nice reference to frank right there)
Head over heels - Tears for Fears
Mad world - Gary Jules (choosing this version because I'm sorry Tears for Fears but it IS better)
    Caterpillar -  The Cure
    Gigantic - The Pixies
    Tugboat - Galaxie 500
As always this is the link to the Black Lives Matter doc and i strongly encourage you to read through it and sign any petitions that you can and then share. https://blacklivesmatter.carrd.co/.
Next week I will talk about the Cornetto trilogy maybe? but I am afraid that whatever I will say will not give it the same justice that hundreds of other film analysers have. I also have an absolutely terrible track record with sticking to my word so if you do actually end up hearing about Hot Fuzz or The World's End or the other one count yourself lucky that I'm actually going through with something! Also, who knows, maybe one day I will actually talk about captain fantastic, even if that day may be far away. Lord knows I've done enough notes on it.

Why tusk is the best film of the 21st century

Why tusk is the best film of the 21st century

It’s my first episode of Tuskwatch folks!! The show where I take any film I’m thinking of and do a quick review! It’s the show within a show, the review within an analysis. I DIDN’T want to do an analysis of this film (and once you watch it (and you WILL) I’m sure you will realise why). Tusk defines boundaries and breaks them. It’s gorgeous it’s satisfying, it holds my little heart in its clutches and cradles it. This isn’t a joke. Go watch it. 7/10

    Potential in Good Will Hunting!

    Potential in Good Will Hunting!

My family will know that I talk about this topic in a lot of detail on just so many occasions so maybe I’m a little bit excited. Good Will Hunting is not actually my FAVOURITE film of all time (or not in the 20 or so that I consider my favourite films I haven’t actually talked about one of those yet but I don’t want to ruin them) but upon reflection it’s good! I’m talking about potential and how it is developed in this film and then I accidentally try and go all therapist on him which nearly shows off one of the main arcs of the film and also a subtle reference to the fact that I tend to speak on topics that I actually have zero experience with. The playlist for this film is as follows (three from the film and three I think fit the vibe): Afternoon delight - Starlight Vocal Band Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty How can you mend a broken heart - Al Green Your feet’s too big - the Ink Spots Istanbul (not Constantinople) - They might be giants Seabird - Babeheaven This is the doc with petitions and information! https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ as always you should do what you can. Next week I will be talking about the glass menagerie with John Malkovich (one of my absolute favourite actors) so be prepared please you should watch it it’s great it’s short also while I’m here watch Donnie Darko because I finished watching that for the 4th time this week and hyperfixation is a strange thing to watch me just recreate the dinner scene next episode and sign off. I also probably won’t talk about the Glass Menagerie but one can hope.

Colour in Me ‘and’ Earl and the dying girl

Colour in Me ‘and’ Earl and the dying girl

I did completely forget to mention that I have exactly ZERO experience in the art of film analysis, unless one would call talking to myself for several days after I’ve seen something good ‘experience’. I hope I did ok though. I’m just talking about how the colour in Me and Earl and the Dying girl seems to culminate in one massive explosion that seems to become Rachel and her death as you do. The playlist for Me and Earl and the dying girl is as follows (I usually take three from the soundtrack and three that I think fit the soundtrack): The big ship - Brian Eno Stolen dance - Milky Chance Pulaski at night - Andrew Bird Preciso dizer que te amo - Cazuza, Bebel Gilberto In dreams - Roy Orbison Absent friends - the Divine Comedy The link to the doc with petitions and other information is here https://blacklivesmatter.carrd.co I’m not sure if you are able to click on it but you should still look it up!! I’m sorry that the sound quality is so terrible as well but I don’t even have headphones to speak into just a phone and I’m not perfect at editing either (that is why literally none was done I’m so sorry about that but I’ll try and fix it and get better). Regardless, I hope you enjoyed! Next week I’ll talk about Captain Fantastic or maybe I won’t :)
