Hosts Shawn Wells and Colin Stewart take a look back at movies they remember fondly from childhood to see if they still hold up, or whether we're just blinded by nostalgia.

Ep.176: I Used To Like 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me'.

Ep.176: I Used To Like 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me'.

Daddy Issues Month continues and Kris Wells is back to co-host with Shawn when we explore the difficulty of having a megalomaniacal father with the classic 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me'.  This is one of Kris's all-time favorite franchises, so we take a look at why and whether it should be. We get off on tangents, gush over certain characters, explore international censorship, the physics of time and space and OF COURSE, because it's Austin Powers, we will be discussing poop. What did we think of it? Tune in to find out!

Ep.175: I Used To Like 'Batman Forever'.

Ep.175: I Used To Like 'Batman Forever'.

In an attempt at some father/son bonding, Shawn has given both his usual co-hosts a month off. In their place, Shawn's son, and past guest Kris Wells, steps into the role as we dive into some movie featuring Daddy Issues. And what better to scar a child than witnessing your parents murdered in front of you like our heroes in this week's film 'Batman Forever'. This is a long one. In fact, our longest to date. Clearly, I haven't spoken enough to my son since he moved out because we get off on some wild tangents. But it's a lot of fun. What did we think, especially after praising 'Batman & Robin' so highly in a previous episode? Can this be viewed with the same lens? Tune in to find out!

Ep.174: I Used To Like 'The City Of Lost Children'.

Ep.174: I Used To Like 'The City Of Lost Children'.

It's time for our Strange Imports Month vacation to come to an end.  Shawn and Aaron have one final stop in France, where it's about to get really weird with 'The City Of Lost Children'.  I'll be honest... There's a good chance you've never heard of or seen this movie. It's very niche. Not only is it foreign, but it's also just a very surreal, bizarre film. Much like 'Zebraman' in episode 172, this is another one where "If you know you know". But if you know and like weird films like 'Brazil' or 'Dark City' (spoiler alert of our episode) we would both recommend this. It's worth it. Try something new tonight. Go watch Ron Pearlman speak French. Whoa... weren't seeing that twist coming, were you? Go watch this film, then come listen to us blab.

Ep.173: I Used To Like 'The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert'.

Our world trip Strange Imports Month continues. Shawn and Aaron go from Japan to Australia, because it's time for an Outback roadtrip. The original drag race, the 90s Pride-filled, long-titled cult classic 'The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert'. 3 legendary actors and one lavender colored bus, with an epic soundtrack and fabulous outfits... need I say more?!? Okay, I will because I'm also gonna remind say "Pung Ping balls" and leave it at that. If you know, you know. How does it hold up after 30 years? Tune in to find out!

Ep.172: I Used To Like 'Zebraman'.

Ep.172: I Used To Like 'Zebraman'.

Our Strange Imports Month continues. This week, Shawn and Aaron travel from South Africa to Japan to take a look at a Superhero story with Power Rangers flair, the Japanese action flick 'Zebraman'. If you are looking at this episode and wondering "What the hell is Zebraman?!?" you NEED to check this movie out. I mean it! This is one of those episodes where we aren't trying to attract listeners to our podcast. This is one where we're trying to spread word of this movie. But seriously! I found this movie online easily. Go find it... it's worth it! Then come back and listen.

However, if you're looking at this episode because you are well aware of who Zebraman is, welcome,  friend. You're in for a good time.

Ep.171: I Used To Like 'The Gods Must Be Crazy'.

Ep.171: I Used To Like 'The Gods Must Be Crazy'.

Shawn and Aaron are traveling the world together through cinema with our Strange Imports month. Our first stop takes us to South Africa for the coke bottle cult classic 'The Gods Must Be Crazy'. The humor is intelligent at times but overall slapstick, until it gets a little too real. Oh, and it's a touch racist. Who would've thunk it with a movie made in the heart of apartheid? It's a first-time viewing for Aaron... what did he think? How does it hold up? Tune in to find out!
