Mathematics in AI Tools - Jonathan Yana - Co-Founder & COO at Qolaig

Mathematics in AI Tools - Jonathan Yana - Co-Founder & COO at Qolaig

For the second episode of the mini-series of "The Laws of Stan" on the applications of mathematics in Artificial Intelligence, I interviewed Jonathan Yana, a very young and ambitious entrepreneur in the world of Generative AI. 🧮

After his first experience as a founder in the tech industry, Jonathan co-founded Qolaig, a company that helps you create tailor-made digital assistants to automate your processes and repetitive tasks using AI, with two of his best friends. 👨‍💻

In this episode, he explains, as an applied mathematics graduate from King's College and LSE, how quantitative methods help him in his day-to-day activities as the COO of Qolaig. ⚙️

I hope you will all enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it! 😇

Mathematics in Generative AI - Samuel Cohen - Co-Founder & CEO at Fairgen

Mathematics in Generative AI - Samuel Cohen - Co-Founder & CEO at Fairgen

After releasing 9 episodes focusing on the applications of mathematics across various industries, including Quantitative Finance, Blockchain, Poker, and Formula One, I have decided to launch a series of episodes focusing on the applications of mathematics in Artificial Intelligence 🧮

Following the trend that Generative AI is creating, I plan to explore how mathematical concepts underpin the development and optimisation of AI algorithms🤖

For the first episode of this series, I interviewed Samuel Cohen, Co-Founder and CEO of Fairgen, a company empowering research teams to analyse niche segments at scale using Generative AI. In this episode, Samuel explains his journey from being a mathematics student at Imperial College and PhD researcher at Facebook to building a company using generative AI and machine learning⚙️ He addresses the challenges of being a young entrepreneur in a competitive landscape ⛰, as well as the mathematical reality behind his work and in the industry.

I hope you will all enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it! 😇

Mathematics in Poker - Davidi Kitai - Poker World Champion

Mathematics in Poker - Davidi Kitai - Poker World Champion

I am thrilled to announce the release of the ninth episode of 'The Laws of Stan,' Mathematics in Poker  ♣️♦️♥️♠️
In this episode, I interview Davidi Kitai, a Belgian professional poker player from Winamax, triple crown winner and the champion of the 2008 World Series of Poker, notably the first Belgian to win a WSOP Bracelet 🏆

As a poker enthusiast myself, this episode is particularly meaningful to me. We will shift our focus from the specific mathematical algorithms used in the industry to a deeper understanding of how the most crucial 'machine'—the human brain—makes decisions under uncertainty using a mathematical mind rather than precise algorithms ⚙️
I hope you will all enjoy this episode 🎰

Mathematics in Formula One - Ivan Roldan - Lead Aerodynamicist at Mclaren Racing

Mathematics in Formula One - Ivan Roldan - Lead Aerodynamicist at Mclaren Racing

Hello everyone, and welcome back to "The Laws of Stan". After a short break from releasing episodes, I am excited to bring you the 8th episode of our first season 🥳

Following a mix of technical and non-technical episodes exploring the role of mathematics in various industries, this week, we delve into a particularly intricate and technical subject: Mathematics in Formula One 🏎🏎🏎

And who better to discuss this topic with than Dr. Ivan Roldan, former Lead Aerodynamics Engineer at McLaren Racing. 🏁

As a sports enthusiast, I am particularly thrilled about this episode as it represents another step in uncovering the mathematical intricacies of sports. While our previous episode on Mathematics in Venture Capital was more accessible to those with a non-technical background, this episode leans heavily on a solid understanding of applied mathematics concepts. 🧮

For those interested in tuning in, here are some brief explanations of several technical mathematical engineering concepts you'll encounter:

🌬 CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics): Branch of fluid mechanics that uses numerical analysis and data structures to analyse and solve problems that involve fluid flows.

🛫 Aerodynamics: The way objects move through air. The rules of aerodynamics explain how an aeroplane can fly.

📈 PDE (Partial Differential Equations): Mathematical equation that involves multiple independent variables, an unknown function that is dependent on those variables, and partial derivatives of the unknown function concerning the independent variables.

= Navier-Stokes Equations: Partial differential equations describing the motion of viscous fluid substances, such as liquids and gases.

🌪 Turbulence: Fluid motion characterised by chaotic pressure and flow velocity changes. It contrasts to a « laminar flow », occurring when fluids flow in parallel layers, with no disruption between them.

So, whether you’re a die-hard Formula One fan, an aspiring engineer, or a mathematics enthusiast, I hope you enjoy this listening experience! 🤝

Mathematics in Venture Capital - Salomon Aiach - Co-Founder and General Partner at Origins

Mathematics in Venture Capital - Salomon Aiach - Co-Founder and General Partner at Origins

For the 7th episode of "The Laws of Stan," I am delighted to present to you a chapter on "Mathematics in the Venture Capital industry." As you probably guessed, this episode holds special significance as we shift our focus away from the specific mathematical algorithms involved in the industry (for this episode only). Instead, we place more emphasis on understanding how the most crucial machine, the human brain, makes decisions amidst uncertainty. 🧐
Although mathematics is not a cornerstone of the VC industry, to comprehend how having a mathematical brain can be crucial in early-stage investing, I invite you to listen to this episode where we discuss the insights of one of the most exciting industries of our time. I had the chance to record it with Salomon Aiach, an early-stage tech investor, co-founder, and General Partner of Origins, a VC fund that he co-founded with ⚽️ world champion Blaise Matuidi.
Before revealing too much about this great episode, I'll leave you with the links to all the platforms ...
    Enjoy your listening experience! 😇
