We turn the clock back to reflect on two things pre-2020: (1) Where our minds were as we were getting ready to enter into a new decade aka our “New Year’s Resolutions,” & (2) Things we miss doing (& were allowed to do) before 2020 made us take several seats! It. Gets. REAL (& funny)!

    Season 1 Episode 1 — Happy Juneteenth!

    Season 1 Episode 1 — Happy Juneteenth!

Introducing #RelatableTalks. A podcast by Didi & Josh, cousins with two perspectives, reppin’ two generations (Gen Z & Millenial), from one legacy. THIS FIRST EPISODE introduces us and our original intent to launch a platform that really embodies our chill vibe while setting the heart beat of mission to spread love & light over lighthearted relatable (and funny as hell) conversations. HOWEVER, given the sequence of events between the idea to create this podcast (2 months ago) up until today, June 19, 2020, we found it only right to not only launch on Juneteenth, but to restructure and center our conversations around today’s Black Lives Matter Movement and systemic racism in our present day. It’s real, it’s here and it’s #Relatable. Enjoy this first episode as we get our feet wet on a series of educational, gem dropping thoughts, feelings and self awareness about our black lives...that matter! ***We do not own the rights to the music played in this episode. MENTIONS& RESOURCES. *** JUNETEENTH commemorates when the last enslaved African Americans learned they were free 155 years ago on June 19, 1865. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in the South in 1863, it wasn’t acknowledged or enforced in many states right away; rather over a 2 year span we would see states gradually adopting the abolishment of slavery. Finally, when the civil war ended (in 1865), General Gordon Granger and Federal Troops marched to Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 to announce the news. Texas was the last state to get on board; making slavery in the US officially over and enforced in all states. ***Music Lockdown By Anderson Paak***Music: Colosus By Koosen ***IG @shaunking ***Grass Roots Law Project / Senator Lee Merritt ***Therapy For Black Girls Podcast by Dr. Joy Harden Bradford ***Dave Chappelle’s 8:46***TPH OneChurchLA ***Maintaining Professionalism In the Age of Black Death is ...
