As we celebrate the life of Earl "DMX" Simmons, his story is full of great highs in music but also with adversity and controversy. Not only childhood but the trauma we experience as an adult directly effects our relationships, coping mechanisms and daily behavior. Constant imagery of police brutality and community violence along with what we personally go through shapes us a little more each day. We may not all end up with a platinum selling recording career, but we do all have a song. If it's one of simply trauma or of healing will be up to us.
