Story’s of Folklore, Haints, Legends, & History from around the southern U.S. It started In South Georgia on a back porch, with chipped up haintpaint. My great grandmaw rocked in her chair, with the crickets & cicadas chirping as her background music, I’d become lost in the tales she’d heard growing up, as told in only the way she could. Now in the North Georgia part of the Appalachian mountains, 20yrs later, is where I carry on her legacy & begin telling these story’s to y’all, echoing a special voice from days of my past.❤️

The Boohag and How my Great Grandmaw would tell it.
I was asked by a friend on tiktok to tell my favorite story of my great grandmothers, as I recalled it from childhood. I immediately thought of The Gullah legend of the Boohag. Maybe it’s because I have always lived for the scarier side of the folktales or maybe it’s because i feel as tho she was leaving me with help for later on in my own life. There’s another of my favorite tales, as told by her, that is the story of a bird & three trees, that tale tells us why some trees loose their leaves during winter & one particularly does not, that will be the next podcast episode. I found a book I’ve been searching for, some might see it as just a simple composition book, but to me it’s a treasured heirloom I’ve put in a safe place till now. Within the pages, my great grandmother recollected & recorded her personal family tails, legends, & ghost storys, & some of these are what I’m sharing with y’all tonight on this episode & I truly hope you will enjoy!
