    Out of Reach

    https://reports.nlihc.org/oor/new-york

    Report: https://reports.nlihc.org/sites/default/files/oor/OOR_BOOK_2020.pdf

Out of Reach documents the significant gap between renters’ wages and the cost of rental housing across the United States. The report’s central statistic, the Housing Wage, is an estimate of the hourly wage a full-time worker must earn to afford a modest rental home at HUD’s fair market rent (FMR) without spending more than 30% of his or her income on housing costs, the accepted standard of affordability. The FMR is an estimate of what a family moving today can expect to pay for a modestly priced rental home in a given area.

Together they are changing lives in New York City.

    LEAP Charities - Boise, ID

    https://www.leaphousing.org/

The Boise-based non-profit community housing developer, LEAP Charities Inc, found a unique  way of blending innovative housing forms with the flexibility and risk reduction of a co-op. LEAP  Charities, Inc is an Idaho affiliate of the national organization of ROC USA. Recently LEAP has developed homes out of metal shipping containers. These four-bedroom, two-bathroom homes will  rent for $843 and include electricity, water, sewer, and trash. The site caters to populations in the  lowest income bracket as household income must be 30 percent less of the area’s median income.

Youth on Record - Denver, CO (not in the housing space, but created in kind alongside a reinvestment / affordable housing project) https://www.youthonrecord.org/about-us

YOR’s education, music, and community programs are designed to help young people become more free, more rooted in their personal power, and better able to thrive in spite of systems and circumstances that dis-empower and marginalize them. YOR designs and implements strengths-based, music-centered programs intended to equip young people from historically under-resourced communities with skills needed to find success in life by advancing their academic success, increasing their economic opportunities and career skills, and strengthening their community connections and networks.
