The Rendlesham Forest Incident with John Burroughs & Jenny Randles UFOLORE

    • Cultura y sociedad

40 years ago, in late December 1980, a U.S. Air Force security patrol stationed at RAF Woodbridge reported a series of unexplained lights in the skies over Rendlesham Forest, a mixed woodland just inland from the Suffolk coast.

The men counted deputy base commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt among their number, and their accounts of the two nights they spent investigating the lights have since become an important touchstone in modern ufology. Indeed, the events at Rendlesham are referred to by some as “Britain’s Roswell”, though others have posited more prosaic explanations, including a nearby lighthouse, a meteor, and brighter than usual celestial bodies.

In this episode of UFOLORE, host Dr. David Clarke, who used UK freedom of information legislation to uncover British Ministry of Defence documents relating to the incident, speaks to John Burroughs and Jenny Randles.

John is a veteran and one of the key witnesses to the Rendlesham puzzle. Today, he lives in Arizona and is the editor of a new book, Weaponisation of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon. According to John: “[t]he inexplicable and unfathomable events of Rendlesham deeply impacted my life [and] in the last decade I’ve undertaken both a public and a private investigation looking for answers”.

Jenny, along with Brenda Butler and Dot Street, was one of the first civilians to launch an inquiry into the case. She is the author of numerous books and articles about UFOs and strange phenomena. During her career as an author and broadcaster, Jenny made numerous contributions to public understanding of the UFO phenomenon.

The opening and outro track is ‘Invaders’ by @jamie-harper
