The events inspire a film based on the case, which sends Mulder, Scully, and Skinner to Hollywood. This episode was written and directed by David Duchovny.

When Scully joins Mulder on the case, they work together to find answers regarding the mysterious attacks and deaths of people in the area while the FBI threatens to close the X-Files and get rid of Mulder for good.
