If a friend of mine ever got with an ex boyfriend of mine, she wouldn't be a friend any longer. Best friend or not. An unwritten rule in friendship and relationships. I would never dream of going after a friends ex boyfriend. Never. It is in the worst possible form of bad taste in my opinion. Disrespectful, cruel and pretty disgusting behaviour. You don't do that to a friend. To get over an ex you have feelings for can be painful enough, but having to watch them go off with one of your friends? I don't think I would ever let a friend of mine get away with that without cutting ties with her permanently. The only exception would be if it had been years and years and a friend knew that I didn't or definitely do not any longer have any feelings for whatsoever for a particular ex…AND came to me first to check with me that I would be cool with it with a willingness to forget about him if I was not. In other words, pretty much no scenario would be okay. Even looking back 10 years, a relationship which lasted a couple of years, I don’t hold any feelings towards him now, we don’t talk anymore, we aren’t a part of each others lives, other partners have come and gone since him, but he was kind of the first for a lot of things for me, first sexual partner, first long term relationship, first serious relationship… I don’t hate him, but we had some difficult times and I’m not remotely bothered by seeing a picture of her every now and then with his new wife and kids which he has. If my best friend in the future asked me if I would mind if she went after him though… that’s a different story and I wouldn’t like that. And that was 10 years ago! Might be a bit petty and territorial to excess but doesn’t really matter, if I’m not comfortable with it, I’d expect a friend to respect that.

You can't control other people sadly. If your friend has made this decision…that is life. That's your friends right if the option is there for him/her with your ex. Not much you can do to change that. But you can definitely react by telling your friend that it is over as far as a friendship with you goes. And when the new relationship between your friend and your ex ends in the future and your friend comes running back to you for friendship…keep the door closed.

You don’t need friends like that. Especially if you had feelings for your ex or still do. A friend wouldn’t do that to you. There’s plenty of fish in the sea…so, for your friend to settle on this person, knowing their best friend was once with them is unforgivable in my opinion.

Some may think that is harsh…that is just my opinion on it.

Cut ties. End of. Find new friends. And don’t let your ex ever come worming their way back in either…even though in perhaps a few months or a year or whatever it may be tempting to get back at your friend by getting back together with your ex leaving your friend with nothing…don’t. I have identified as a feminist for a long time and teaming up with another feminist who actually understands what feminism means. We basically talked about some of the misconceptions people have about feminism and what feminism actually is. “Feminism exists so that no woman ever has to face her oppressor in a vacuum, alone” Feminism is basically about Autonomy, Empowerment, Choice and Meaningful Engagement. I hope this episode throws more light on what Feminism actually is and what actual feminists stands for. Feminism Is An Advantage To Both Men And Women.
