Use These Routines to Create Better Habits with Ashley Brown

If you’ve wanted your home to run smoother, make lasting changes in your life, or just get more done - finding the right routine might be the little thing that’s missing.

Routines and habits are one of the things I resisted in my life for way too long and I am almost embarrassed by how long it took me to figure out that routines are the things that make life easier - not harder or boring.

However, routines can be tricky to set up and we don't always get it right the first time. But, once you find the right routines for you and your family…they are so worth it!

My expert guest is Ashley Brown. In addition to being a mom of two, she is the author of the Routine Building Handbook and owner of Routine and Things, which serves to help women get organized and into routine so they enjoy the heck out of life.

Ashley knows when women feel good, the world is better for it. She’s on a mission to see as many women as possible organize their life one routine at a time!

This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show will also help you discover:

    - How many routines Ashley has in her life (and how many she recommends)
    - What to do when a routine fails
    - Why routines are the safeguard against boredom
    - The steps you can take to start a new routine
    - What to do if you feel too stressed to try a new routine

Love Your Wardrobe Like a Pro Stylist with Kim Hancher

Do you wish you could get dressed quickly each morning and feel fabulous about what you’re wearing?

I hear you! One of the best things I ever did was to create a capsule wardrobe. I love how easily it is to choose an outfit for the day or pack for a trip. It’s amazing to know that I will look and feel great without a lot of extra effort or thought.

But…after the last two years, my capsule is feeling frumpy and I no longer feel it’s a perfect match. That's why I am thrilled to have a professional stylist join me on the show.

Kim Hancher, has a blog dedicated to teaching women 40+ how to regain their unique style and dress their body type so that they feel confident doing something you have to do every day, get dressed. After 27 years in Sales and Marketing, she decided to turn her lifelong fashion interest into a career and help others learn to love the way they dress.

And don't worry if you’re under 40 or don't want to dress like you’re middle-aged, Kim has great tips to help you dress however you like.

Do This Instead of Decluttering for a Clean Home

Do This Instead of Decluttering for a Clean Home

Need to clear out stuff, but hate the idea of a big, exhausting decluttering session? No worries. I’ve got your back.

Decluttering doesn’t have to mean dumping everything out and sorting through it one thing at a time. Instead of feeling like you have to do it all at once, you can be methodical and create a rhythm for going through the things you own.

Honestly, no one really wants to look through their old items and feel guilty about tossing stuff. Even as a minimalist, decluttering is a means to an end for me. I love the feeling of a neat tidy space, but sorting, purging, and tossing is tiring.

Here’s what I do instead of decluttering to keep my home clean and clutter free.

This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show will also help you discover:

    - 3 systems I use to keep clutter under control
    - How you can stop clutter before it enters your home
    - What I recommend you have in every major area of your home
    - My favorite way to get my family to help tidy and clean up
    - How 5 minutes can make or break your next day

How to Downsize and Simplify Your Life with Ryan Mitchell

Are you part of the 50% of Americans interested in tiny homes? It looks like the population is split with the numbers skewing toward younger people being more eager to try living in a smaller space, but people of all ages are curious about the trend.

If you find yourself daydreaming about having more freedom, less debt, and ditching the stuff for a beautiful - yet tiny - house, you are not alone. This week’s guest on the Wannabe Minimalist Show will show you how he was able to downsize and simplify his life by going tiny and how you can too - even if you are not planning to move into a tiny home!

Living in only 150 square feet for years, Ryan Mitchell has learned a thing or two about living simply. From downsizing to life simplification, and designing a life that’s right for you, Ryan brings a lot of experience and practical knowledge to the table.

He built his own tiny house in 2012 learning as he went along which inspired him to help others in their journey to live small. Today he still lives in his tiny house full time and off grid with solar, teaching others how to live simply.

    How Do You Define Clutter

    How Do You Define Clutter

What is clutter? It seems like a simple question, but it’s a question I hear often which means that it’s not as straight forward as it seems.

Sometimes people really don't know what stuff to classify as clutter. They think that anything that’s above the basic necessities is considered clutter (and that might be true if you are a hard-core minimalist, which I am not).

Other times, someone might be looking for an excuse to keep something or a reason to get rid of something. When you are in this state of being unsure about clutter, a definition or a rule can help you make that decision and feel good about it.

So it's no wonder that this question and the desire for a definition on clutter keeps coming up.

If you’ve ever wondered what clutter really is or if you can have stuff as a minimalist, this episode will help you figure it out.

This episode of the Wannabe Minimalist Show will also help you discover:

    - The factual definition of clutter and why it’s not enough
    - Why physical clutter is not the only issue
    - What you can do to look at your clutter differently
    - How I categorize clutter so it’s easier to tackle
    - The first step I take to minimize my clutter that works wonders
