Women in Conflict: A conversation with Dr. Lucy Hall - EP4 S2

On this week's episode we are speaking to Dr. Lucy Hall, lecturer at the University of Amsterdam. As her research focuses on the connection between gender, violence and protection, we talk to her about the role that gender plays in conflict situations and some of the misconceptions that go along with this. Moreover, we touch on the effect that ISIS terrorism has had specifically on women, how they recover from conflict and what particular needs of women have to be considered in post- conlflict reconstruction. The Forgotten People: Brenda Stoter Boscolo - EP3 S2

In this episode we are speaking to Brenda Stoter Boscalo the research-journalist and writer who focuses on the middle east. Her work has been featured in major publications. And in 2019 her book ‘the forgotten people’ about the Yazidi genocide came out. Besides her work as a journalist, Brenda had been active in the region, providing help and resources where possible and necessary. Her tireless effort to support the Yazidi Community is neverending.

This episode is about Brenda and her personal journey in writing the book about the Yezidi genocide. We also focus on the role of media concerning the Yazidi cause. An important questions is discussed: why its always about the IS woman and not about the Yazidi victims? We also speak about Majdal, the boy on the cover of her book. And about the current in-human situation in the Camps in Iraq.

Yazidi cases in the Netherlands: Dutch war crimes unit and public prosecutors office - EP2 S2

Yazidi cases in the Netherlands: Dutch war crimes unit and public prosecutors office - EP2 S2

This episode is the second part of a two part series. In this episode we are speaking with the Dutch war crimes unit(TIM) and the Dutch national public prosecutors office on prosecution and investigation of Dutch ISIS members. This is the first time the war crimes unit and public prosecutors office have done a podcast with an NGO on their work, which we are very proud of.

We discuss the challenges they face in their goal to justice, but also the challenges the Yezidi's are facing in regard to fighting for recognition and justice for the crimes committed in 2014 against the Yazidis.

The Dutch government in that light invites the community to talk to them in order to make these cases a success because they need information and evidence of witnesses and survivors on the role of Dutch ISIS members in such crimes at the time or present.
