    #51 Farjana - South Asian Culture/Community Episode

In this episode I had a wonderful conversation with Farjana. Farjana is a South Asian Entrepreneur and Creative / Artist working as a Tech Recruiter pursuing masters in cybersecurity. She has an entrepreneurial spirit with multiple businesses and a nonprofit for south asian communities supporting mental health and bringing awareness of stories from  women's trauma and independence in our culture / community. Born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. Her parents are Bangladeshi and Farjana as a digital nomad in between ATL and NYC and sometimes Cali shares with me experiences of being South Asian American. Our conversation went into deep as well as uncomfortable areas of parenting, generational differences, problems faced by South Asian women.

I enjoyed my conversation with Farjana a lot, and I hope you do too :)

#50 Saint Raavan I Indian-Tamil Music, R&B, British Asian Artist I A Very South Asian Podcast

#50 St. Raavan - The Music Podcast
    .
Michael Roshan Jr. aka SAINT RAAVAN is a British Tamil Recording Artist who explores the borders of Alternative R&B and World Music. In this conversation we talk about life as an artist, Indian music scene, Tamil r&b and hip-hop scene. Michael is an up and coming South Asian artist from the strong diaspora in the UK. I hope our conversation can help for many listeners to go check out his sound and music.

His song Thuniya sung in Tamil was also featured recently in Rolling Stone India’s Daily music list featuring new artists. He has been championed by the BBC Asian Network, and also credited for one of the track on legendary artist MIA’s latest album. He is been making ripples and waves, hoping to carve his own unique space.

I enjoyed my conversation with Michael a lot, and I hope you do too :)

#49 Tanshi I Delhi-based Handpoke Tattoo Artist I A Very South Asian Podcast

#49 Tanshi I Delhi-based Handpoke Tattoo Artist I A Very South Asian Podcast

    #49 Tanshi
    .
Tanshi is a Delhi-based queer handpoke tattoo artist. Tanshi is a young artist who is creating beautiful tattoos using the handpoke technique, which in my basic understanding is almost like an analog way doing tattoo as opposed to doing it with a machine. They are less invasive, less painful, and “less intimidating” than a machine-done tattoo. The designs are original and unique. Tanshi is known for quirky flash designs which are hand poked.

I was able to talk about great topics ranging from handpoke tattooing to life in general to perspectives of being a queer artist working in urban India. I hope I was able to provide a meaningful conversation. I enjoyed my chat with Tanshi, hope you enjoy it too.
