Episode 2: Dating App-ventures | ON Finding The One #JoTalks

    • Personal Journals

This episode’s owls: Darren, Yujing (Sin)

Aside from sharing their stories and laughter (#goodvibes), they also came up with the aptly punny title.

To my #HuoHuas, thank you again for doing this for + with me. And yes, dinner on me the next time we hang. 💖

And to you who’s here, I hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed recording it. Take and keep whatever’s good or useful for you:

🌻 Prologue

[00:00] Intro “I hope you know that you are special, know that someone cares. Know that we are here for you, if you need a listening ear.”
[00:18] Location description.

🌻 Part 1: From chatting up to meeting up.

[00:48] Describe your current dating situation.
[01:22] What kind of person do you usually swipe right on?
[02:21] How do you usually start a conversation on the app?
[02:55] How do you end the conversation or take it to the next level?
[04:16] How do you gauge if a first meeting is good or bad?
[11:40] Share your worst date from the app(s).

🌻 Part 2: Perspective, perspective.

[18:41] “A boyfriend/ girlfriend is like a best friend that you have sex with” agree or argue?
[22:37] What is the single most important factor in a relationship (for you)?
[24:39] How do know if someone is being truthful?
[27:25] How do you catch yourself catching feelings?
[31:57] Do you believe in ‘The One’?
[33:32] Do you think that love is a feeling or choice?
[36:02] What are the pros of being on dating apps?

🌻 Epilogue

[40:49] Words of encouragement - For those who are STILL using dating apps.
[42:05] Words of encouragement - For those who are NOT using dating apps.
[44:38] Reiterate 1 major takeaway for this episode's topic(s).

In my head, it seemed like a good idea to record while strolling around Botanic Gardens. Learnt the hard way that, I can be too idealistic.

I did my best-est editing this episode. The process took me longer and was tougher than expected (still, thank you Adobe Audition, for the normalize/compressor/hard limiter functions).

Thoughts like “why am I doing this/ what am I doing this for” kept bugging me. I’ll touch on this in one of the upcoming episodes.

Disclaimer: Not sponsored by Tinder/ Bumble/ CMB or the council of dating apps (might exist!).

Very serious about doing podcasts together, if, like me, dating apps are just not your thing. ✨
