    DISCUSSION QUESTIONS | WEEK 2

    TALK WITH A FRIEND
Grab a friend and discuss what you learned this weekend with them.

    1. Like Abraham, God calls us to follow through obedience. Where is God calling you to a new step of obedience right now?
    2. Like Isaac, you have received a spiritual heritage. How would you describe it? Describe the heritage you want to leave.
    3. Like Jacob, sometimes we wrestle with God. What are you most likely to wrestle with God about (ex. doubts, questions, ungodly desires)?
    4. Joseph had to put God’s agenda ahead of his own, and this led him to forgive those who had offended him. What do you need to forgive for the Kingdom’s sake?

    SEND IT
Put what you are learning into action!
How does this impact your life?
What will you do or change as a result of what you’ve learned?

    TIME WITH GOD
Our message this weekend covered some important ground in Scripture.
Take time each day this week to dig into God’s word and allow it to impact your life.

    Monday: Genesis 12 & Genesis 15-17
    Tuesday: Genesis 21-22:19
    Wednesday: Genesis 27-29; & Genesis 32-33
    Thursday: Genesis 37 & Genesis 39-41
    Friday: Genesis 42-46:7 & Genesis 49:8-12

If you’re new to reading Scripture on your own, you can use the SOAP method.

    1. Start with S-Scripture: read the passage.
    2. Move on to O-Observation: what is interesting? What is confusing? What does this passage reveal about the world, God, and people (including yourself)?
    3. Spend some time in A-Application: what do you sense you might need to do or change in response to what you have read?
    4. Close your time with God in P-Prayer: talk to Him about your life, the day ahead, and what you are learning.

    DISCUSSION QUESTIONS | WEEK 1

    TALK WITH A FRIEND
Grab a friend and discuss what you learned this weekend with them.

    1. Why is is so significant that all people are made in the image of God? How does it change the way you think about yourself? The people you love? The people you don’t like?
    2. How does the story of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11) mirror all of the problems at the
heart of mankind’s rebellion (hint: think about control, fear, and insulation from God)? How is God’s response actually an action of grace?
    3. If you were to estimate, what portion of your life do you dedicate to trying to fix things in the world/your world that are “messed up?” How does the knowledge that God has had a plan from the beginning to fix these very things give you hope?

So Close To Peace | Doyle Surratt | SCG Church Service | April 21st, 2024

    1. On a scale of 1-10 how “at peace” are you today? (1=Completely Lacking Peace, 10=Totally at Peace)

    2. Read John 16:33. What has Jesus done to bring peace: 1. To the world, 2. In the war with Sin? How does pursuing a relationship with Jesus bring peace in your life?

    3. Is it possible to be at peace with all the people in your life? Why or why not (see Hebrews 12:14)? Read Ephesians 4:2-3. What makes peace among believers so important? In what way is peace among believers different than peace with those outside of the family of God? How do you approach peace in these relationships differently?

    4. Psalm 77 outlines steps believers can take to receive God’s peace (1. Cry out to God, 2. Remember His past blessings, 3. Ask God the hard questions, 4. Choose different thoughts, 5. Praise God, 6. Trust God to deliver you). Which of these comes the most naturally to you? Which one is the most difficult in times when you are lacking peace?

    5. What do you need to do or change as a result of today’s message?
