    Celtics/Pacers preview

    Celtics/Pacers preview

The Boston Celtics will open their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Indiana Pacers later today. I released my usual scouting report on Monday ahead of a big game or a playoff series. I’m joined by Tim Sheils as we try to break down some additional talking points ahead of the series opener.
We look at the big man rotation, the battle between Tyrese Haliburton and Andrew Nembhard vs. Derrick White and Jrue Holiday. What the matchup between Payton Pritchard and TJ McConnel could look like, and the different ways Boston can look to slow down the Pacers high-paced offense.

The Boston Celtics won their fourth straight road game of the postseason on Monday night. They beat a Donovan Mitchell-less Cleveland Cavaliers to take a commanding 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference semi-finals series. We saw some new wrinkles to the Celtics offensive and defensive game plan. We saw things get a little chippy. And we’re probably goi…

Is Al Horford playing too many minutes?

Is Al Horford playing too many minutes?

Al Horford struggled in a bigger role during game three of the Boston Celtics Eastern Conference semifinals contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Does Joe Mazzulla need to play him less minutes? If so, who can step into a bigger role in the rotation?

Celtics get Cavs in 2nd round

Celtics get Cavs in 2nd round

We finally know who the Boston Celtics’ next victim is going to be! After a few days of waiting, the Cleveland Cavaliers found a way to close out the Orlando Magic and book themselves a second-round matchup with the C’s.
Cleveland’s size could pose some questions for a Kristaps Porzingis-less Celtics. As usual, I will drop my deep dive scouting report on the series tomorrow. Any love for that will be greatly appreciated. For now, though, I wanted to share some thoughts on the matchup as quickly as possible, and a podcast was the easiest way to do that.
I was joined by my friend Wayne Brown, who primarily covers the 49ers but does do some work for Bleacher Report covering the Celtics on their livestream offerings. Wayne and I have podcasted together on and off for years.
As always, if you prefer to watch, rather than just listen, there is a full YouTube version up as well.
Catch you all tomorrow as we start peeling some layers off the upcoming playoff series!

One down, three more rounds to go

One down, three more rounds to go

The Boston Celtics made light work of the Miami Heat in their five-game playoff series. Erik Spoelstra’s team had some significant injury issues, yet the Celtics stayed locked in and didn’t play down to the competition.
Now, The Celtics are waiting to find out who they’re facing in the second round. Will the Cleveland Cavaliers close out their series against the Orlando Magic tonight? Or Will Paolo Banchero and Co. force a game seven?
I’m joined by Brenden Nunes to discuss how each potential matchup could alter Joe Mazzulla’s rotation, some lessons we can take from the overall series against Miami, and why it’s logical to expect the Celtics to get tested but not get taken into deep waters.
No newsletter today…I’m diving into some Cavs/Magic stuff ahead of the weekend, so I’m ready when a scouting report needs to drop :) Catch everybody tomorrow!
And as always, if you’re new here, why not stick around by hitting subscribe?
