12: Life in the Peloton – Jimmy Whelan

Welcome to The Cycling Podcast presents Life in the Peloton, with Mitch Docker.
The Cycling Podcast is delighted to welcome Mitch Docker and his excellent Life in the Peloton series to the fold for 2020. This is the first episode of a fortnightly series presented by the EF Education First rider Mitch Docker.
Let’s hand over to Mitch to find out more…
“Life in the Peloton started in 2016 and if you are a regular listener you’ll know the drill by now, but if you’ve just discovered the podcast let me fill you in on how it works.
“Every fortnight, I sit down for a chat with someone from the world of professional cycling to discuss what life is like inside the sport. From teammates to rivals, to some people who may not be as well known, but who have a fascinating story to tell, I’ll introduce you to some of the people I’ve rubbed shoulders with in the bunch and met on my travels as part of a World Tour team.
“In this episode, meet my EF Education First teammate Jimmy Whelan, or ‘Half-Whelan’ as we nicknamed him after last year’s pre-season training camp because of his eagerness to get stuck in having just turned pro.
“I was keen to catch up with Jimmy on the eve of his second season in the World Tour to find out what he learned from his debut year. I hope you agree it’s a really interesting listen.
“By joining up with The Cycling Podcast I’m hoping to develop some of the ideas I’ve got for the future of the podcast. If you’re a long-time listener to the podcast it’s great you’ve joined me for another season of podcasts.  If you’re listening for the first time, welcome along, I hope you enjoy the ride.
    “Cheers, Mitch.”

We're delighted to welcome Mitch to the team for 2020 and ahead of the release of his first new episode on January 29 we thought we'd delve into his back catalogue to present six edited versions of some of his greatest hits.
This is the final episode of our mini series and it features Tao Geoghegan Hart, who Mitch caught up with shortly before the Giro d'Italia. Before the podcast, they were just acquaintances in the peloton so this was an opportunity for them both to learn a bit about each other and their lives in pro cycling so far.

8: Service Course | Episode 7 | Gold Medal Machine?

In this episode of Service Course, Lizzy Banks and Tom Whalley take a close look at the new HB.T track bike that Team GB will be riding at the Olympics in Tokyo. A collaboration between Hope Technology and Lotus Engineering, the bike’s striking looks are certain to divide opinion. To find out more about the design, Lizzy spoke with Tony Purnell, the head of development at British Cycling. He believes that, in a few years time, we will see road bikes emulating the design of the HB.T
We also hear from Lizzy’s Bigla - Katusha teammate Martina Alzini, who is part of a very exciting, Italian team pursuit squad. Martina talks about the beautiful new Pinarello that the Italians will be riding in Tokyo, and gives her thoughts on GB’s new machine.
