Fact Check: Is Climate Change Really Causing More Severe Hurricanes?
Every year at this time, when hurricane season rolls around, corporate media start pumping out headlines linking the severity of hurricanes to climate change. But is there causation or correlation? And if changes in the climate do affect hurricanes, is it in the way climate activists claim?
Climatologist David Legates says, "[If] we have colder periods, we will get more hurricane activity. If we have warmer periods, the hurricane activity tends to drop off.”
Legates serves as a visiting fellow for the Science Advisory Committee in the Center for Energy, Climate, and Environment at The Heritage Foundation, and is a professor emeritus at the University of Delaware. He is also the co-author of the book “Climate and Energy: The Case for Realism.”
Legates joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss what connection does exist between hurricanes and a changing climate.

Former NFL Star Ben Watson Offers Antidote to Abortion
If the number of marriages increased in America, the number of abortions would likely decrease, statistics show.
The Pew Research Center reported that in 2021, 87% of women who had abortions were unmarried, meaning that “marriage can make a huge difference if 87% of abortion-determined women are not married,” says pro-life advocate Ben Watson, a former NFL star.
It's not only the unborn that benefit from a society that celebrates marriage, but all children, Watson says.
“It's necessary that men be a part of raising a child and having a commitment to the mother in the form of marriage, because we see statistically that it produces that kind of children that we want in our society,” says Watson, who played for four NFL teams during his 16-season career.
Ahead of Father's Day, the former NFL tight end and current president of strategic relationships for the Human Coalition joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain how he and his wife have navigated some of the challenges of their own marriage, and whether being a father is what he expected. Watson also offers his predictions on the upcoming 2024-25 NFL season.

Oklahoma Treasurer Leads Fight Against ESG
Oklahoma is center stage in the fight against environmental, social, and governance policies (ESG), and the man leading the charge is state Treasurer Todd Russ.
Russ was in Washington, D.C., this week and visited The Daily Signal to share an update on his efforts to combat the ESG agenda.
Oklahoma enacted the Energy Discrimination Elimination Act in 2022, and tasked Russ with managing a list of financial institutions prohibited from doing business with the state. That list currently includes BlackRock, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, State Street, and Climate First Bank. Russ found their ESG policies run counter to the financial interests of Oklahoma.
The law is now in jeopardy, however, following a judge’s ruling in May that temporarily blocked its enforcement.
Russ spoke with The Daily Signal about what’s at stake and how individuals can join the fight against ESG.
