Sleep Paralysis | Dealing With Depression & Anxiety
According to research, between 8% and 40% of people experience sleep paralysis at least once in their lives. Sleep paralysis is a sleeping disorder that has been linked to anxiety, depression, and mental illness. There are, however, additional reasons. But, in layman’s terms, Sleep Paralysis occurs when you become aware (i.e. visually) in the middle of sleep or dream but all of your muscles remain paralysed. In this state, you can only see what’s around you and have hallucinations (most of the time), but you can’t move a finger or so, and your mouth muscles are turned off, so you can’t speak or scream.
