Dr. Valerie Steele is the director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she has personally organized more than 25 exhibitions at the Museum, including “The Corset: Fashioning the Body,” “Gothic: Dark Glamour, A Queer History of Fashion,” and “Paris, Capital of Fashion.” Dr. Steele is also founder and editor in chief of “Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture,” the first peer-reviewed, scholarly journal in Fashion Studies. She is author or co-author of more than two dozen books, including “Paris Fashion: A Cultural History, Women of Fashion,” “Fetish: Fashion, Sex and Power,” and “Fashion Designers A-Z: The Collection of The Museum at FIT.” She gives lectures frequently and has appeared on many television programs, including The Oprah Winfrey Show and the PBS special, “The Way We Wear.” And The Washington Post described her as one of "fashion's brainiest women."

When the wealthy Baptista announces that he will not marry off his beautiful young daughter, Bianca, until he finds a husband for his temperamental eldest daughter, Katherina, Bianca’s suitors welcome the arrival of the overly confident Petruchio, who has come to Padua to find himself a wife with money.

Felipe Fernández-Armesto is a professor of Ancient, Early Modern, Medieval, and Modern History at the University of Notre-Dame. Professor Fernández-Armesto earned his doctorate at the University of Oxford, and has also taught at Tufts University and the University of London. He is author of dozens of books on history, “Oxford History of the World” several focusing specifically on famous explorers, including “Straits: Beyond the Myth of Magellan,” “Amerigo: The Man Who Gave His Name to America,” and “Pathfinders: A Global History of Exploration,” for which he won the 2007 World History Association Book Prize.
