9 épisodes

Blue Gold, nine goals, nine episodes to discover inspiring real-life stories that show the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in action.

The 17 SDGs were established in 2015 by the United Nations to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. At Veolia Water Technologies we are a major contributor to 11 of the 17 SDGs and we will continue to contribute to all SDGs wherever water is concerned. We can’t tell you we contribute to the 11 of the 17 SDGs by only talking about technologies, pipes, etc., because the SDGs are also, and above all, a human journey.
And so, Blue Gold captures the true stories of our employees, our partners and our customers who are working together to preserve water, an increasingly scarce resource, to help eliminate poverty, provide sustainable cities and communities for future generations and fight climate change.

Each story is told by a real person who works every day to protect our global water resources, such as a newly hired Canadian engineer and their first mission to decontaminate mine water, to the mobilization of a Spanish-English speaking team to supply drinking water to an entire city after a category five hurricane.

SDG 14: paying our debt to the oceans and lakes

Let’s first go to Hamilton Harbor on Lake Ontario and find out more about Randle Reef, Canada's largest sediment remediation project in the Great Lakes.

Hear from Roger Santiago, Head of the Sediment Remediation Unit focused on Great Lakes Areas of Concern at Environment and Climate Change Canada and his colleague Dave Lawrence, Senior Project Manager at Public Services and Procurement Canada, who explain to us what the engineered containment facility is and how it is removing contaminants from the soil.

Next, we join Dr. Warren Cairns an Analytical Chemist at CNR-ISP who is exploring the Antarctic, where cutting-edge science is being used to rediscover our past and the impact our actions have had on the environment on an even greater scale.
