After 25 years at the Late Night desk, Conan realized that the only people at his holiday party are the men and women who work for him. Over the years and despite thousands of interviews, Conan has never made a real and lasting friendship with any of his celebrity guests. So, he started a podcast to do just that. Deeper, unboundedly playful, and free from FCC regulations, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend is a weekly opportunity for Conan to hang out with the people he enjoys most and perhaps find some real friendship along the way.

Conan makes me feel more normal

I claim to be Conan’s biggest fan in France maybe even in the whole French-speaking world. It took some time for my partner to understand why I giggle that much but I believe Conan, Sona and Matt are one of the reasons why we made it through COVID’s lockdowns. Eternally grateful. Keep us giggling.

Excellent podcast

The interviews are absolutely stellar. So many are ‘must listens’.

However, the banter between Conan and his ‘team’ (ie on the payroll to laugh and guffaw) is typical American obsequious folderol. Deeply uninteresting. My advice is to trawl though the self congratulatory dross and get to the grist….the interviews. Many are truly exceptional.

So much better than what Conan used to do on TV

Listening from France.
I used not to like Conan’s work but now that I listen to this podcast, I understand that it’s probably because the usual TV night show is too formatted an exercice. The Conan style is not to be harnessed.
In here, you can listen to both funny and heartfelt conversations between humans.
