Co-hosts (and ex-pastors) Jason Stellman and Christian Kingery discuss politics, religion, and culture over drinks.
Podcast #326: Kids, Agnosticism, and Failing at Life
We begin this episode of Drunk Ex-Pastors with a voice mail mocking Jason’s diction, and then another one challenging his opinions about The West Wing. We hear from a female listener explaining double-standards in the workplace, and then answer another listener’s questions about raising kids with a partner with whom we disagree spiritually. We discuss the issue of accents, and then answer a patron’s questions about how we feel about being such failures. Biebers involve TikTok and pizza.
Intersex People and Erectile Dysfunction
We begin this episode of DXP in a sour mood, and it shows. We lament our tech problems and vent a bit about how mean old-timey dads are on TV, after which we address a caller’s question about intersex people. We shit all over The Mandalorian and consider how we’d feel if we found out a meteor will soon destroy life on earth. We discuss a patron’s story about erectile dysfunction and in so doing we try to help people understand why wieners sometimes just don’t work. Biebers involve pickpockets and Kl
Psychedelic Sacraments and Twitter for Morons
We start off with our usual banter, after which we discuss Brian Muraresku’s new book, The Immortality Key, about how the early Christians may have been super effed up on psychedelics (which would be amazing if true). We discuss Lori Loughlin, pointing out that it gives us a comforting feeling of inner warmth whenever a rich celebrity has to pay the price for being an awful person. We talk a bit about Parler and what a perfect platform it will be for stupid people. Biebers involve wigs and punctuation.
Our Election Erection
In this episode of DXP we break down the recent election and offer some analysis, although the cynical and more negative one of us promised to try real hard not to rain on everyone’s parade. We also turn our attention to the great state of Ohio, and explain why it mostly sucks (and no, this has nothing to do with electoral politics). In the second half we delve into the various conspiracy theories coming from the unhinged right, after which we share biebers involving streaming platforms and Zoom calls.
Death and a Living Wage
In this episode of Drunk Ex-Pastors we get an update from Jason on the Mystery of the Drug Dealer’s Cell Phone. We talk a bit about LegacyBox, and then Christian gives an update on the latest way he decided he wants to die. We take a voicemail from a good ole boy about the “China Virus,” and then we discuss the issue of a living wage (what is it, how should it be determined, etc.). Biebers involve time changes and eating salad.
The Final Debate, Da 5 Bloods, and Gullible Giuliani
In this episode of Drunk Ex-Pastors we break down the second (and final) presidential debate, and then discuss the new Spike Lee film, Da 5 Bloods which, you may be surprised to learn, is not about street gangs in L.A. We discuss the rise of right-wing militias and how stupid they are (the militias themselves are stupid, yes, but the people in them are also quite dumb). Lastly, we mock Rudy Giuliani for being the most gullible mayor of a major city ever to marry his own cousin.
