After working for more than a decade in a foreign country, she decided to come back and start the company, to create jobs in the local market and promote Nepal’s products and services in the international market. The company already has a portfolio of local and international clients (US and Israel), providing software development, maintenance and support through IT solutions and outsourcing services.

Thapa was recently featured in The NepaliTimes and The Kathmandu Post column, as one of the women "changing the face of tech in Nepal".

Political Parties of Nepal & Social Media : Tanel Discussion 2021

Political Parties in Nepal have been using Social Media extensively right from the Constitutional Assembly Election of 2008 because of the increased accessibility & affordability of the internet, smartphones, and the massive increase in the number of social media users.

In this edition of TANEL, we will delve deep into what these political parties use social media for (interaction or merely advertisements), its outcomes, and the overall impact of new technology on political competition. Join us in this interesting debate.

Bibeksheel Sajha Party  

Ranju Darshana is a socio-political activist. She is currently the Secretariat Member of Bibeksheel Sajha Party and has worked as a Campaign Department Head, Media Department Head, and Star Campaigner in various elections formerly.Darshana was also the 3rd position holder securing 23439 votes in the Mayoral election of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in 2017. 

Besides that, she is also an advocate for Mental Health and has initiated ‘Monday For Mental Health’ which provides peer support and connects people with experts. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Political Science and is also a freelancer Content Writer, Brand Development Consultant, and Public Speaking Trainer.



#2  Dipesh Bista

Central Member Information, Communication & Publicity Department

Mr.Dipesh Bista is the Central member of the Information, Communication, and Publicity Department of Nepali Congress. He’s an engineer by profession and currently the director of three companies namely Everest Telecom and IT Solution, Niyashree Developers, and Tech Solutions. 

In the past, Bista used to be the General Secretary of the Center for Democratic Engineers Nepal, the Executive Member of Nepal Engineering Council, and the Board Member of Nepal Engineering Council. 

He has a double Master’s both in Engineering Management and Rural Development.

The world is moving forward rapidly with innovations and discoveries of every small thing that simplifies human lives. With the development of technologies and the invention of the internet, the world has turned into a small interconnected space where almost everything that society requires in order to function is available. From education to medical treatments to businesses and now the economy. Yes! You heard it right, even the economy is gradually transforming to virtual. It has its own implications and challenges but it is inevitable as well. Therefore, all we can do is prepare ourselves, gear up and adapt to the Digital Era.



 In Nepal, the concept, practice of digital payment is new but is being adapted in an exponential ratio. Owning smartphones and using the internet for day-to-day communication can be observed as normal phenomena here in Nepalese society as more than 4 million Nepali are abroad that resulted in the internet penetration of more than 72%. The common tool for communication has become social media even for people inside the country.



Most of the advertisements, branding, and marketing are done over social media as it has the largest viewers at the lowest expense in comparison to traditional advertisements. The shutdown led by Covid-19 played a role of catalyst in increasing the demand of e-commerce and digital payment both among Nepalese which excited all the major stakeholders such as Banks, Digital Payment Platforms, E-commerce houses, etc. However, there are few iron gates to be crossed in order to reach a smooth road for Digital Payment in Nepal. Here we discuss the Prospects of Digital Payment from the perspective of “Existing Policies, Practices from the side of E-commerce and other platforms, Required Reformations and the Way out”
