In today’s episode, we have Gerald Chukwuma, Founder of GDY Fine and Functional Art. Gerald is a Contemporary artist noted for working with upcycled aluminum battered wood carvings and installations for his signature intricately crafted wood-slate sculptures. His body of work aims at telling Nigerian stories through art. His work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at key galleries and museums both locally and internationally.
Interviewing him, we have Aderonke Adeola, a writer, producer and director. She is the director and producer the documentary “Awani”, a historical documentary that explores the intersection between colonialism and gender inequality. This film has also won multiple awards including the UNESCO prize at the 2019 Afrika Film Festival.
