Hi, I’m Collier. Like many people, I ended up here accidentally because of another person's selfish actions.
I was 11 years old when I heard my father murder my mother. I then worked with the police to get him arrested and testified against him in his murder trial, leading to his lifetime of incarceration.
Then, the hard part began. Disowned by my family and sent to live in foster care, I started life over at age 12.
Here, I share my process and perspective on surviving true crime and the trauma that comes with it. Let’s talk about overcoming adversity and moving on. I’ll chat with fellow survivors, academics, advocates, and storytellers.
Healing is an ongoing journey, but we can turn the darkest moments in our lives into our brightest legacies!
I hope this content offers anyone processing trauma the hope to move on to a better and more fulfilling life!

Part 1: Misinformation Creates Mayhem! The Case of Karen Read

    #karenread #johnokeefe #truecrime
This is Part 1 of a two-part interview with Sunny Slaughter.
Sunny Slaughter, a Law Enforcement and legal Analyst for Court TV, Law & Crime Network, and Scripps News joins Collier to discuss the Karen Read trial. With the case being as polarizing as it is, misinformation from all sides has only made matters worse.
BOSTON – The high-profile Karen Read murder trial in Massachusetts got underway on April 16. Read is accused of killing her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, with her SUV in 2022. Her defense argues she is the victim of an elaborate coverup and is being framed by a group of people that includes law enforcement.
    About my guest:
Sunny Slaughter is a Law Enforcement/Litigation Expert and Former Law Enforcement Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Legal Analyst for Court TV, Law & Crime Network, and Scripps News.

Morgan Spurlock's Controversial Legacy, Man or Bear Trend, Why Cuts to Victims of Crime Act Are Bad for Everyone

Happy Memorial Day in the U.S.A.! In this episode, Collier reflects on his holiday weekend and the new Mad Max film, when he realized he and Chris Hemsworth have similar taste in footwear. Collier also dives into the controversial legacy of filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, who passed away on May 23rd at 53. He also shares his insight into why the "Man or Bear" trend should be a wake-up call for all men. California is set to eliminate critical victim services starting July 1, 2024, which will lead to the closing of most domestic violence shelters in the state. Where will battered women and survivors of domestic violence seek refuge in an already broken system?

TCT-True Crime Thursday! The Case Against Karen Read.

TCT-True Crime Thursday! The Case Against Karen Read.

Today, we launch a new installment of The Collier Landry Show: True Crime. Thursdays or TCT (you guys know how much I love my acronyms!) will feature a new case every week that has piqued my interest!
This week, it's The Case Against Karen Read. Collier and retired Massachusetts State Trooper Todd McGhee discuss The Polarizing Case Against Karen Read as it moves into its fourth week of testimony.
It’s safe to say that the case against Karen Read is fraught with controversy, with a polarized Canton, MA, community rallying around both sides. Read is currently on trial for Second Degree Murder of her boyfriend, Boston PD Officer John O'Keefe.
It all started on the evening of January 28, 2022, at 34 Fairview Road, a home owned by Nicole Albert and husband Brian Albert.
A party had gathered there that night following a night out drinking at Waterfall Bar and Grill, nominally to celebrate Brian Albert Jr.’s 23rd birthday, to which O’Keefe and Read were both invited.
By 6:03 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2022, Jennifer McCabe placed a call to 911 reporting that she, Read, and another friend named Kerry Roberts found O’Keefe’s body in the front yard.
    About My Guest:
Todd McGhee is a retired Massachusetts State Trooper. After a successful 24-year career in public safety, he provides international training and education for the US Department of State, Office of Antiterrorism Assistance. He also contributes to mainstream media, providing insight and analysis on homeland security, active shooter, aviation security, and school security-related topics.

Victim Rights Attorney Sarah A. Ford joins the program to discuss the Mica Miller case.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- There is an unexpected twist in the death of a South Carolina pastor's wife after the sheriff announced the FBI and U.S. attorney are helping in the Mica Miller investigation.
The 30-year-old woman was found dead in April.
However, investigators say she called 911 moments before she was found dead at a state park in North Carolina, which was about an hour north of where she lived in Myrtle Beach.
Mica's death came just days after she told a police officer "she was scared for her life" after finding a GPS tracker on her car and a razor blade in her tire.
She and her husband, John Paul Miller, were also in the process of separating. He was a pastor at a local church but has since been released from his duties.
    About my guest:
Sarah A. Ford is a Victim Rights Attorney from South Carolina, where she was born and raised. She is a former public defender (2 years) and prosecutor (8 years), where she focused on crimes against women and children. How Intergenerational Trauma Is Used to Excuse Narcissistic Criminal Behavior

How Intergenerational Trauma Is Used to Excuse Narcissistic Criminal Behavior

Is intergenerational trauma just an excuse for bad behavior used by narcissists to get away with their wanton behavior?
Collier Landry and guest Dr. Roger Rhoades discuss the epidemic rise of the intergenerational trauma excuse being used to mask criminal narcissism. Sighting the recent case of Senator Robert Menendez, a New Jersey Democrat charged with accepting bribes, including cash, gold bars, and a Mercedes-Benz, in exchange for political favors to foreign governments. Sen. Menendez’s attorneys revealed they planned to call a New York psychiatrist to testify that the senator’s “intergenerational trauma” created an undisclosed mental health disorder that caused him to store his riches at home.
Dr. Rhoades also shares his thoughts on True Crime Perpetrators Alex Murdaugh, Chad Daybell, P Diddy, and Charlie and Donna Adelson.
Collier makes some revelations in his own life dealing with narcissism in his romantic life.
    About my guest:
Dr. Roger Rhoades has been a professional counselor since 1987. He has been licensed in South Carolina,Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia. He is on staff at Synergy Counseling in Greenwood. He has spoken nationally and has appeared on national television from 1994 to 2010 on such programs as Montel, Jenny Jones, and Oprah.
