Tefkar ,

Jay is the star

Jay Rayner is brilliant at mixing food and banter. He does not judge, but leaves the guppy guests to their doom.

Laura-in-Paris ,

Aaaargh...slurps and burps!

I loved this podcast straight away. I caught a mention of it on Twitter today. (Kathy Burke) Brilliant interview; what a interesting/real person to listen to. I then listened to Richard E. Grant (brilliant/charming/modest guest from series 1).

But then... I hit a (sound) wall when I listened to interviews with Dermot I’Leary and then Russell T. Davies. Despite enjoying what they had to say and the great rapport that Jay Rayner evidently has with all his lunch companions, I just couldn’t bear the food-chomping noises (if you think I’m exaggerating listen to the bit where R.T. Davies tucks into his chicken!!). All that slurping and chewing - I could hardly bear it.

A real shame because the interviews are really well researched and what’s on the table sounds just gorgeous. Please Le Rayner, can anything be done to make it less ‘real’? Happy to know they’re in the midst of culinary heaven; just don’t need to hear the slurps and burps 🤭🙄🙁
