JelloJazz ,

An excellent show

An excellent podcast, allowing us to dive deeper in Japan’s darker side. A country where people are crumbling under so much pressure than some have no other option but to disappear. This is not Spirited Away or even Your name, there’s next to no magic here. From North-Korean abductions to domestic violence, unsolved crimes and bad debts, you’ll get a good overview of the topic. But mainly it focuses on voluntary disappearing acts, because some people find the courage to choose a new life.

Jake’s style as a narrator is as fun and whimsical as what his readers can expect from him. I also really liked Shoko’s voice and narration, she is the star of the show, at least the one that hasn’t disappeared.
The podcast is not perfect in that there are some lengths but overall the content is fascinating. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Japan or just spooky stories.
It should have been out on Halloween instead of before Christmas though, but that’s not a very valid point. More than anything, I’m looking forward to the next season.
Enjoy !

:/

The topic was so good - but the narration & the sound .. it’s painful to listen to, especially in the first episode with the old man.
