This podcast comes in the form of a special one-to-one interview with regular Kitbliss Podcast contributor Jay from DesignFootball.com. Not only that, but there were questions galore from our wonderful legion of Patreon supporters, all of which were answered by the man himself. So if you want to know how Jay came to have such an encyclopaedic knowledge of football kit design and why he has such a passion for the subject, download and listen in to this special extra episode of The Kitbliss Podcast. Episode 32: The Most Average Football Kit of 2020

Episode 32: The Most Average Football Kit of 2020

For this year's festive episode, the Kitbliss team are shying away from the frankly shambolic quiz format of previous years and instead embarking on an altogether more valid project. Yes, this year, we're trying to find out what is The Most Average Football Kit of 2020. You've sent in your nominations and we've been looking at each of them, hoping to establish which kit has fulfilled its brief to be as average as it's possible to be. Rich and Jay are on hand to provide comment and analysis, and in so doing pay their respects to two footballing greats, pass comment on the space between Uma Thurman's eyes and generally search for The Epitome of Average which, as we all know, is the Bond film title that surely someone would have thought of before now. The question is, which kit has been crowned King of the Commonplace? There's only one way to find out, listeners. Download the pod, check out our crib sheet for visual assistance and enjoy... Note: During the podcast, it's mentioned that Gavin Haigh provided several of the kit nominations, which is incorrect. The correct name was in fact Gavin Hope. Apologies to Gavin Hope for the mistake and to all listeners for any confusion this may cause. You can download Episode 32 of The Kitbliss Podcast via the Podcast section at www.kitbliss.co.nz. Episode 31: Le Coq Sportif

    Episode 31: Le Coq Sportif

If there's one thing we've been meaning to do on The Kitbliss Podcast, it's focus on one kit manufacturer and assess their output throughout. Well, we've finally got round to doing just that as on this episode we look at the work of French sportswear supplier Le Coq Sportif. Although no longer making kits for British club teams, they're still creating fine apparel for the likes of Saint Etienne, Fiorentina, Cameroon and South Africa. But how well does their contemporary work stand up to the LCS kits of the past, and what do we think of their overall standard of work, as seen over the last 50 years? Joining me to contemplate such matters are Jay and Rich, who along the way stop off to ponder the use of drop shadows in modern kit design, the influence of Benny Hill on Robbie Williams and the inability of old people to understand what makes young people tick. As ever we end with some Kit News, and as ever there's a crib sheet to provide you with more visual cues than any person could ever possibly want. You can download it here, should you need it. Episode 30: Goalkeeper Kits

    Episode 30: Goalkeeper Kits

Goalkeepers. They're a merry bunch of 'characters,' aren't they? Well you'd think so, judging by some of the brightly coloured kits they've worn down the years. But it wasn't always like that... On this episode, Rich, Jay and I take a look at the history of goalkeeper kit design and wonder whether it's all actually been in vain. Two of us are somewhat apathetic about the notion of 'special kits for goalkeepers' and the other is still undecided. So why are goalkeeper kits such an important part of every new kit launch these days? As we try to work out just how much we like goalkeeper kits, Rich crowbars in as many long-forgotten 80's pop culture references as possible (again), Jay contemplates the inner peace that comes from maintaining a zen garden, while I do the decent thing and read out your feedback and lots of Kit News. Hey, it's what I do. A crib sheet, I hear you cry? Why of course - it's here. Enjoy... You can download Episode 30 of The Kitbliss Podcast via the Podcast section at www.kitbliss.co.nz. Episode 29: World Cup 1990

    Episode 29: World Cup 1990

June 1990. Rich was getting work experience with British Telecom. Jay was still at school. Chris, meanwhile was busy buying huge quantities of blank VHS tapes. Why? Because the 1990 World Cup was about to start! In this episode of The Kitbliss Podcast we're going back 30 years to that exciting time when FIFA's 14th world football cavalcade was unfolding before our very eyes. It was an interesting tournament, not least because of the kits we were seeing on our TV screens. But were those kits any good, and have they aged well over the last three decades? Here's where you'll get our take on everything from England's overhyped home kit to the greatest football shirt ever. Along the way we also pause to remember Fido Dido, Ruud Gullit's grasp of the English language (which, it should be noted, is so much better than our grasp of Dutch), and the beautiful kit worn by Tunisia. (Wait... were Tunisia even in the 1990 World Cup?) There's also lots of listener feedback, mild swearing, yet more new kits for 2020-21 and corny jokes aplenty, but then you probably don't need us to tell you that by now. A crib sheet, I hear you ask? Why certainly - download it here and be reminded of all those lovely Italia 90 football kits. Godere, as they say in Bologna... Episode 28 (Part 2): End of 2019-20 Kit News Update

Episode 28 (Part 2): End of 2019-20 Kit News Update

And so to the second and concluding part of our latest podcast in which you find us wading hip-deep through the latest new kit releases... We start off with League Two in England and Wales but we soon take in Scotland, continental Europe and even Latin America on our conversational travels. But oh, listeners, this is a journey that takes its toll on the Kitbliss Podcast team, and before we get to the end, two of us are forced to drop out. What terrible sequence of events could cause this unprecedented reduction of speakers by 50%? Is Chris' verbal delivery so bad as to cause his guests to seek involvement in other podcasts? Listen in to find out... As ever, there's a crib sheet to provide visual assistance while you do so, plus poor fish jokes, references to 1980's UK TV gameshows and much more besides. Enjoy and respond with your feedback, if you dare... You can download Episode 28 (Part 2) of The Kitbliss Podcast via the Podcast section at www.kitbliss.co.nz. Presented by Chris Oakley.
